That's the business. Though I could see why someone advocating for a 13% split for an undefeated contender to travel to Oakland would need to have that stance.
So if Roc was paying Ward $10 million and they offered Barrera 10% of the purse, you'd tell Barrera to walk? And I'm not advocating anything. I never stated an opinion one way or another regarding the purse. I've merely maintained it's a fight I'd like to see. :smoke
I agree the fighting in Oakland in not a big deal. Oracle Arena is nice. Only thing is they should make sure that Jack Reiss doesn't get the ref job. He doesn't know how to handle clinches and has no clue what dirty fighting is. 100% incompetence!
Oakland's fine. But typically, you still pay a premium compared to a neutral venue. 300k for Barrera isn't a premium. Just toss him an extra 100k to get the fight wrapped up and be done with it. There's nobody else with Sullivan's pedigree willing to take the fight at that price, which will become apparent if he walks. Why risk it?
if he fights barrera or periban it doesnt matter...its a tuneup/get ready fight.....ward isnt trying to set up a headliner here......it doesnt matter who it is aside from the ward haters who want to see him in with a better fighter that has an outside chance and some pedigree.....in reality the name doesnt matter...barrera doesnt bring anything to the table for a name......hes just an opponent here......ward isnt trying to sell anything ....remember ggg fans "smart business" comes first....
Periban is a SMW that isn't acceptable. This is an HBO card hes headlining not BET. And were supposed to believe he is getting acclimated to fighting at 175 and Kovalev by picking fat SMW?
hes had one fight in how long? and it was a glorified exhibition match.....so....i think periban is fine...then maybe a step up to a barrera....
