It's nuts. Look at the other names that have been thrown out there- Brand, Dunn, Periban, etc. Sullivan Barrera sticks out among that list as being heads and shoulders the best fighter and best fight. It's not even close. If not him, we're talking levels of drop off for not much more cost savings (even Smith cost $225k). The difference between Barrera and Brand, Periban, etc is the difference between people buying that Ward is serious about his comeback and people believing he's playing us for suckers. That alone is worth the $100k. It's simple: Roc makes the fight, and I shut right the hell up on it. But the idiocy here if they let Sullivan slip through the cracks can't be overstated. There just isn't a laundry list of fighters with his ability willing to take that fight.
He fought Paul Smith at LHW who weighed 195 on fight night. He also has a gym near Oakland to train in. He is acclimated already so quit with this exhibition and tuneups ****. He should be ready. If he isn't then I guess he's not the fighter people think he is! Or at least isn't anymore.
oh ok...should he just fight kovalev next week then? lol you guys are so full of garbage when it comes to ward...it hurts he hasnt done anything since 2011 and still has a better resume than ggg...and hes still younger....you guys still cant accept the guy was ducked by your hero paul smith was a glorified exhibition fight...hbo prob wouldnt have approved smith......
Its starting to look like Ward just wants the easy fight. Cuban style isn't sitting well with him. He wants the Peribans and Brandt. One dimensional guys.
its the ggg factor that makes you seethe with hate for ward....so yeah it has to be mentioned you make idiotic statements as if ward is ready for any fight right now because he owns a gym...lol
It sure seems like the other way around. Its GGG's fault that Ward is in the position he is in. Ward should send GGG a check. Because if not for GGG and the stupid publicity Ward would probably not even be talked about.
We have no idea what they're asking. 300k was the initial offer, they may be holding out for 600k or more.
the position ward is in? he made 2 mil for an exhibition fight! ....he has a deal with hbo and roc nation...and they arent bad for him..lol.....you have 0 clue "ward doesnt sell...not even in oakland.......ward is boring...ward doesnt fight...only fights in court...hasnt done anything in 5 years".... yet ward is still seeing the same money as ggg...and ggg is supposed to be some superstar and network darling...lol
Once Ward fights Kovalev then he cant be denied his greatness and all this hate/criticism will stop. He needs momentum to gain back credibility that he is serious. Even if he loses to Kovalev he still will be elevated to new heights. Even I think he has a chance to beat Kovalev and would beat GGG. Don't lump me in with people who think GGG steamrools everyone please!
Actually I think it costs the promoters and networks more to put on a event at Oracle Arena. Its a premium venue. Nothing is cheap in the Bay Area. Believe me I know.
