There's also the WBC perpetual HW champion belt, which doesn't involve any fighting of mandatories unless they're old and/or crap.

You're saying "Margarito isnt remotely in Floyd's class" huh ? Then please explain why Floyd literally **** his pants in fear when Tony politely asked him " WHY WONT YOU FIGHT ME "??? Floyd stammered and stuttered like Daffy Duck on crack. Its on youtube go look it up

So I know you read where I said clearly that Floyd didn’t wanna fight Margarito or Paul Williams.. He definitely strategically ducked them due to the matchup nightmare both guys possess the same thing Canelo is doing now.. But don’t forget he had a HOF resume before he moved to WW and ducked those guys which means they are not in his class.. Please try to convince me that Paul Williams and Margarito are HOFers..

From what I learned so far, WBC has, in fact, politely and respectfully stripped Canelo. It's not a promotion nor demotion. That 'franchise champion' title has absolutely nothing to do with the championship. You can see in WBC website that in the 'Champions and Rating' section that their middleweight division is now led by Jermall Charlo. Canelo name only fills a little section below as Franchise and IBF champion. They did it because the the organization (more precisely, Mauricio Sulaiman himself) does not want to ruin their relationship with Canelo.

In my opinion, this 'Franchise Champion' title is somekind of emeritus status. The difference is, they give it to a fully active boxer and active champion (of other organizations). And the only responsibilty Canelo of the holder of this title is to attend several WBC ceremonial events annualy. In other words, a poster boy.

Though it's surely funny and makes all the boxing community and forums laughing and joking about it, as far as I can see, it's not a controversial decision as it doesn't put anybody in disadvantage. Not that I defend WBC, but I find their decision this time is still politically proper. They could have let Canelo hold the belt for another decades, but realized they would serve Charlo no justice that way. This is still much better than what WBA did to Machado when they sanctioned a world championship bout and granting the winner, Tank Davis, a higher champion status skipping the titleholder in process.

Really they never had chance to be. for different reasons
Margarito was railroaded thats for sure. He'd destroyed Cotto & no one wanted to fight him. Oscar bragged he wanted the winner of that fight but quickly changed his mind Floyd "retired". Then came the blatant lie from that POS Richardson about " Plaster Blocks" & that started the debacle that basically ruined Tony's good name & his career
Paul Williams career ended with that tragic motorcycle wreck
Funny you say they were not in Floyd's class BUT He obviously didnt think he could beat them even with his state commissions backing

What the WBA did to Machado for Davis was atrocious and is on par with what the WBC did to Sergio Martinez a few years ago for Chavez Jr.. Also I think Al Haymon threatened to sue like Rocchigiani did 20 years ago that almost bankrupt the organization..

The difference between Charlo and Dillan Whyte is Charlo fought the eliminators they assigned and agreed to take the interim belt for Canelo vs GGG 1 and 2 to happen with the agreement that the winner must face him.. They were ready to strip GGG if he didn’t face Charlo but show no such signs forcing Canelo to fight him.. So it was more like they did a honorary strip of Canelo..

He had his opportunities but he got his ass kicked by Shane Mosley and he lost to Daniel Santos in his prime.. It is what it is he’s not on Floyds level.. Floyd was the man at 130, 135 and won a belt at 140 well before he moved to WW.. Margarito and Paul Williams posed a stylistic nightmare for him at WW.. Paul Williams was completely shot by the time he got in the motorcycle crash as he was just schooled by Lara.. they are not HOFers Floyd is.. But as I said he definitely ducked both guys

Tony Margarito " Got his ass kicked" as you say by a juiced to the gills Mosely right after the 'loaded gloves "debacle in the dressingroom. The energy and non stop punching he was unstoppable . remember he is a PROVEN SELF CONFESSED PED'S ABUSER BUT WAS NEVER PUNISHED.
Tony fought Santos twice IN PEURTO RICO Santos home both fights were stoppages due to sever cuts caused by blatant headbutts from santos one a N/C the other a tko win for santos. santos was second only to Andre Ward
    in the BILLY GOAT award
Floyd in my book was a manufactured champion he really should have had at least four losses Castillo1 Maidana1 & DQ losses to Ortiz &Judah plus the PACQUAIO fight should really be a N/C. STATE COMMISSION & Vegas judges covered his ass on those

The WBC has so many belts that every boxer they rank in the top 10 for the weight class can have a belt.

It is a complete joke of an organization that panders to cash cow. Thats how all these belts came about.

I'm a firm supporter and believer in the process of integrating the WBC Franchise Championship into boxing. These deluded haters on here can't stand it, the WBC will save boxing and will be the last belt standing.

    Trust in the process.
