Is the Wilder/Fury rematch bigger than AJ against either?

I know Eddie Hearn likes to think AJ is the only man in the divison and by far the biggest fight for Wilder or Fury but I'm not so sure.

Now I'm thinking the Fury/Wilder rematch is the biggest fight in the divison atm, thoughts?

In Britain, Fury and Joshua would be bigger. I do believe though that Fury's rematch with Wilder could do 1 million + PPV's. That's a huge fight now. Everybody was talking about that fight.

Biggest fight in terms of what? Revenue potential? Social media interest?

Everyone was talking about Ward vs. Kovalev yet the rematch did 25% less than the first fight. Not sure if there's a 1:1 correlation between fan discussions and PPV sales for a rematch.

I think they are about co equal at this point. If you are talking revenue, though, AJ still probably brings in the most money. Unless Wilder Fury II exceeds historical precedent. Which I don't think is impossible.

I don't think the reception was close to this fight tbh.

This is heavyweight boxing though. Heavyweight boxing has a different kind of lure to it that just entices the casuals to watch. We'll have to see, but I reckon it'll do well.

AJ will definitely bring in the most money. Some might not like t admit it, but Eddie Hearn is an incredible promoter.

He's definitely an incredible promoter, the best, imo. Yes, I don't really disagree AJ would almost certainly make more money, despite the fact that the US market has a higher potential cap on earning. AJ would bring the most money short of a historic increase in PPV buys for Part II.

Lewis vs. Holyfield did 1.25 million. Rematch did 850k.

Again, doesn't guarantee Fury vs. Wilder II has to follow the same path, all I am saying that those think 1 million PPV in the rematch is a virtual guarantee are a bit too optimistic IMO.

Any combination of those three fighting each other is money. Especially now we’ve seen the power of wilder and that Fury still got that slickness and room for improvement. The onus is on AJ to take on one of the two

If it's in the US, nope, not a chance.

Fury was the main draw card vs Wilder, and those who tuned in thought he won the first fight.
Nothing will change for the second fight. People just don't know who Wilder is...he hasn't been marketed will to the international market at all.

If it's in the UK, it still wouldn't beat AJ/Fury numbers, as both are well known around the world.
I'm from the other side of the globe and travel 5-8 times a year. I can tell you that very very few people in NZ/AUS/UK know who Wilder is. The casuals in particular, and they are the ones that Wilder needs to support him - to put 100% faith in his power & ignore the science behind boxing.

More people from NZ/AUS/UK know who Whyte is, simply because he fought AJ and Parker.
Boxing fans outside of the US just don't believe Wilder would beat AJ, so they disregard him (as well as being promoted poorly).

I have a vote with a group of boxing mates for the fight in the weekend. 2 out of 11 thought Wilder would win. That speaks volumes given the layoff that Fury had, and the question marks around his conditioning/status in the division.

PPV # go like this in my eyes:

AJ vs Fury #1 - In the UK
AJ vs Wilder #2 - In the UK or US
AJ vs Whyte #3 - In the UK
Wilder vs Fury 2 - In the UK
Wilder vs Joshua - In the US
Wilder vs Fury 1 - In the US

Point taken. I think it'll do very well in britain PPV, but yeah you might be right, 1 million might be quite optimistic.

No. The undisputed HW championship of the world is #1. I'd say, given that public opinion is that Fury won, AJ vs. Fury would be #2.
