I think so, even if Cotto were to knock out Mosely.

Hatton with a win over lightweights best Castillo and Welterweights best PBF hes a lock.

Mayweather with a win over Jr.welterweights Hatton best and junior middleweights best Delahoya hes a lock too.

So if you have a favorite fighter whos name isnt Floyd Mayweather or Ricky Hatton but think hes done enough to win the award FOTY, you're blindly hoping :deal

Cotto himself said that he would love to fight DLH, but Mayweather the most, and even said that Mayweather wont be able to aviod him much longer.

If Hatton pulls out the upset, which i dont really put past him. If Mayweather wins itll be cause he ran around all night and pot shot Hatton and makes it a boring ass night.

Shane Mosley will be fighter of the year when he stops Cotto.

Clear cut? Nah nah nah . . . it depends on how the fight is going to turn out. It turns out to be a hugfest or clinchfest or the extreme then the winner doesn't have the right for the fighter of the year honor.

The best candidates for fighter of the year is Donaire, Pavlik or Cotto . . . for me so far.

If Cotto wins, he has just as good a shot as Floyd or Hatton if they win.

If Hatton beats Mayweather, sure, he'll be up for fighter of the year. Otherwise, some folks (including me) will say what's the big deal? We already know Hatton struggled at welterweight and Mayweather has been as high as light middle. It's a no-winner for Floyd.

Mosley vs. Cotto? Nah. This just isn't the same Mosley we saw at lightweight and he's up against a younger, stronger guy. I don't see Mosley winning and I don't see it as a major win for Cotto.

The winner of the J.M. Marquez vs. Pacquiao rematch, that's fighter of the year material.

If Floyd beats Hatton he'll get fighter of the year.
If Hatton beats Floyd I'm not so sure. Most people are downgrading Hatton's victory over Castillo as him beating a shot fighter. I think if Hatton beats Floyd, unless he just flat out dominates him, Cotto would be more likely to win fighter of the year if he beats Mosley.

    :huh

Floyd beating someone who has a downgraded win over Castillo give him FIghter of the year. But defeating The top P4P guy, something DLH could not do, isn't enough to win it? That makes almost no sense. If anything, from what you say, the opposite shold be true.

BTW, Hatton's win over Castillo may be downgraded, but only on this, and similar, message boards. Doubtful you will see anyone in boxing, be it respected trainers, fighters, or anylists, dismiss his win over Castillo.
