i'm getting sick of this mma vs. boxing crap( just look at the threads now present!) but for me mma is ok. i just dont like posts like mma is winning over boxing or vice versa.. i tend to look at the danger of the sport to see which of the 2 are riskier coz for me: more riskier, (more manly)a plus point.. have any mma fighters actually died in the ring if so who are they?
I gotta tell ya mad_takamora your statement that "more riskier, (more manly) a plus point" is easily the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on these forums and there have been some pretty stupid things said over the years. And no, there apparently aren't any ring deaths attributed to MMA.
Agreed. ******ed. First of all that is a completely wrong way to look at any combat sport. Second, in ancient Pankration people fought to the death every other time. Third, boxing is just as good of a sport as MMA and other way around. Last but not least, if ure so ****ing tired of boxing vs MMA threads why did just start this one which might not do the "vs" explicitly but it sure does hint onto another one of those threads.
You guys are being ridiculous. I can see what he is saying. If no one ever dies in MMA but boxers continue to die in boxing then it will show an amazing degree of courage to box. In combat the injuries involved is a huge part of it. It is part of the reason so many warmed to MMA so quickly - it looks SO brutal and arguably MORE brutal than boxing.
C`mon Sherlocks lets be real..Its quite obvious Boxing is predominantly head trauma.Theres aeons of ways to skin a cat in MMA as the rules are more diverse. So what exactly is the big deal? I mean if you beat someone enough shock horror THEY WILL DIE! Be it MMA or Boxing...
MMA has proven to be safer in the long haul because they fighters accumulate less damage over long periods of time, and they also absorb less damage in fights (knockouts come much easier with 4 ounce gloves). So, if the most deaths is what you're looking for, you won't find it in MMA. MMA also has a better track record than football when it comes to injuries.
Than again if you look at ancient MMA people fought to the death almost every fight and rules were "no gouging". But TKO4 got it right on the button though.
As stated the guy basically died because he failed his physical in the states, went to an unsanctioned event in the Ukraine, and lost a pretty normal fight. He basically died of his medical condition, not fight related injuries. Also, it wasn't in a ring....so still no ring deaths.
