is their proof that Margarito cheated against Cotto?

    There is no proven fact.

Margairto may have cheated and he may not have. But we do know that Nevada has always done what California now does in order to prevent this. They supplied all the materials for the wrap..

It may not be proven fact, but people are likely to speculate when events unfold differently to what was expected. Many did not think Margo would win, and early on he was copping it, but the fight turned.
Just because you don't have "hard" evidence it does not automatically invalidate any theories about what might have happened. It just makes them unproven, not impossible.

Simple answer is... There is no concrete proof.

There is only reasonable and rational speculation. That says that no guy "tries it out" on a championship fight. There would be too many nerves and adjustments. Before a guys stuffed something in his gloves (or body) he would have to be comfortable with it. "Will this hurt my hands?", "Will I get caught?", etc... Any sane man would have these questions. So it doesn't make sense for him to start cheating with Mosley and not cheat with Cotto, but it can't be proven.

Who cares though? He almost did the crime. He did his time. Guys are caught using steroids and they are right back in the ring doing work. If the commission felt it was worse? Give him more time. They gave him what they gave him. I want to see the guy fighting.

Real talk! If nothing else Marg is an entertaining fighter. Not graceful by any stretch but he always gives it 110%. Even in taking a MASSIVE beating at the hands of Shane. He could have folded in any of the early rounds where Shane was just teeing off on his dome. But he kept pushing forward until he just couldn't take any more of those hooks! A mans gotta make a living. And he did his time so lets hope he gets a shot to get some big fights again. We'll see...his rep has taken a major hit.

He can serve whatever punishment the authorities dish out, that may absolve him in the eyes of the boxing authorities, but he also can't complain if noone wants to fight him anymore.

Sure he can......especially if he's innocent. If he's NOT, then of course his complaining would fall on deaf ears b/c of the nature of the crime. But without that solid proof Marg has every right to push to keep his career. I just don't think anyone can fault those fighters who won't want to take the risk due to the way this story unfolded.

If he's innocent? there was extra shite in his wraps against Mosely, ok we can't prove Cotto, but once is enough to warrant the distrust he will now experience from many.

its extremely suspicious. the evidence isnt there but that doesnt prove it didnt happen

he was never a big puncher. clottey said his punches didnt hurt at all so he doesnt think he used them on him. then all of a sudden against cotto his power is much better, he battered his face. He used them against Mosley who was his biggest fight yet and there is more pressure to win. Cotto was his biggest fight before, I strongly suspect he used them with him as well because its the same situation, big fight, more pressure to win.

Exactly. I hate it just like anyone else, but is it worse than a guy loading up on EPO and smashing your head in the 9th like it was the 1st?

Margo is tough as nails and the guy I honestly most want to see fight Mayweather. I thought he showed great toughness and determination against Clottey, Williams, and Mosley even in defeat. I know he won't hold a candle in skill, but he might just have the chin and will.

Then again it might turn out like the Baldomir fight. :tired

the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence... Just because you cannot prove their were no illigal handwraps does not mean you cannot use commen sense to see whats going on. I do believe that there must be concrete evidence if a case where to be lifted against tony but I am not interested in that... True boxing fans know what happend that night in Nevada and thats all that matters....
