Is there a need for Cotto v Margarito II?

Not immediately, no.

Cotto will still want to avenge his only pro defeat, but Margo will probably be taking a tune up in about three/four months time before taking on another big challenge.

There might be SSM vs Cotto II first.

 

It depends .. the WW division is ****ing EXPLOSIVE with potential fights right now.

Im highly anticipating Cotto's rebound performance.

But with so many options who knows if this gets made what with

Cotto
P Will
Clottey
Pacquiao
Berto
Mayweather

Not to mention other excellent fighters like Quintana and Collazo.

I don't think theres a surefire prediction, but I do think Cotto should be given the chance to rectify his performance if he wants to.

 

honestly, when you think about it......if he really did have loaded gloves in that fight, then other then shear revenge theres no need

because if you take away the fact that Margarito was able to hurt Cotto in the later rounds, it was an absolute boxing clinic

and if he was only able to hurt Cotto in the later rounds due to the hardening of the plaster, then without it, he'll get punished for 12 rounds straight

so yeah, i'm all for it.....he deserves to take the beating of his life

Does Cotto want to GRANT the cheater a rematch? Margarito goes to the bottom of the barrel for this ****. You have to wonder how many of his wins, the few that he's had, can be attributed to this. I have no reason to believe it hasn't been all of them.

Not unless both men can start winning and find themselves as the top 2 147 pounders in the world again. I say Cotto and Shane should rematch, I think Shane would take him.

 

cotto and margarito won't lose their status for being in exciting fights because they lost one. both have a solid fanbase and can bring a lot to the table.

their reputation as dangerous opponents means they can still easily make fights with any opponent out there.

I disagree. I think Cotto shouldn't give Margo the big payday he wants after the cheating. Cotto should move on to bigger and better things.
