What if AJ passes up short term gain by fighting Miller in the US, and it's a cofeature with Wilder fighting big Dom on the same card? AJ would be passing up alot more uk money in the Miller fight, but they probably don't want to risk oversaturating uk anyway, absence makes the ticket prices go higher and all that. Big baby and Dom are good enough contenders. Would a joint card like that, setting up a unification fight have any chance of generating Canelo GGG numbers? Ggg was never a big ppv star, but the quality of the match, coupled with canelos star power, sold it. Could something like that happen in the us for AJ Wilder? If not, AJ may as well just stay in UK the rest of his career, I don't see him ever having another good opportunity to break into us ppv markets.
You can make it a PPV now but it will flop like Crawford - Postol or Ward - Kovalev. Have AJ face Miller and Wilder vs Ortiz/Povetkin in US, both win then we have a PPV.
aj should only fight in the uk while he is in the driving seat. barry mcguigan and barney eastrwood thopught america was the place and he lost to a fighter he would have beaten in the uk and never ever got back to the top again. the american market for non americans /mexicans is **** poor at the moment / they only have 1.2 million hardcore boxing fans because of ppv diluting there fanbase. james degale went to america and is now a who`s he . i was brought up with america being the mecca of boxing /which it was then / it is now no longer that / important and full of good talent yes but other markets like the uk have caught up. las vegas is about the size and population of bradford but much more remote to the rest of the usa than bradford is to england no one would ever suggest making a town like bradford a hotbed of boxing. MSG was in a densely populated major city as was most boxing /now casinos with the empty arenas except for the main event being filled with rich patrons who want to be seen to be at an event make for poor spectacles to me who like to watch boxing undercards and all. keep AJ in the limelight in the uk . more people watch boxing in the uk than they do in the usa it is a bigger sport here right at this moment in time until the usa produce there next superstars. yes with an american fighter there is mega money to be made fighting in america / but it has to be against a massive american star and just at the moment the usa does not have any holyfield / bowes /tysons. wilder is dangerous but he is not a star.
Yes their is a route but Hearn somehow has to Persuade SHOWTIME who i presume will carry this event in the US to make it cheaper than usual ppvs.I'd say $35/40 around that mark so it is more expensive than the UK PPV price and also America is 5 times bigger so more people will buy it.Promotion i dont worry about,Showtime,Hearn and Wilder can promote the **** out of this event. However it has to be Prime Time in the US.Which means the Uk will lose out and have to watch at 4am in the morning, however if Mayweather/Pacquiao and Mcgregor broke Sky Box Office records at that time, which didnt involve a Brit i suspect Joshua will smash it regardless.Joshua has to fight Miller in the US,then Wilder fights Brezeale aswell. Then a big Summer showdown.Or save it for the Winter and have Joshua fight Parker in the US followed by Wilder fighting Browne/Pulev.
Seems a little late to be pushing Wilder Stateside. Nobody there will give a **** about him until he beats Joshua and now it looks like he'll have to come to a British stadium if he really wants to give that a go. Now personally I just want to watch the fight so don't give a **** where it goes down but I can't see Joshua and Hearn being willing to miss out on a 90k gate because Wilder happens to be an American.
