Is there a scenario Canelo still fights GGG and rematches Bivol?

He would have definitely beat Charlo. I actually think he thought Bivol was the tougher route since that style really is bad for Canelo. The thing is wins over Charlo and Benavidez don’t really enhance his legacy, but beating a top 175 champ does. I wonder how Canelo would have done against Makabu @CST80 because before the Bivol fight I would’ve definitely picked Nelo.

 

Bivol made him look silly, like a helpless child in there. Why on earth would he want to go through that again? Bivol is too bring, too strong and too good.

He should fight Golovkin.

 

I think even Mackaboo would have had alot of success against what we saw with Canelo last night. The size and being that Mackaboo would have been allowed to weigh in at 199 with no rehydration clause would have been a factor for sure.

 

Smart move would be GGG back down at 168. Get your form back going strong again and hope that Bivol has a hard fight or two in the meantime. The prideful dare to be great side of Canelo will want that rematch straight away though

 

GGG is a dangerous fight. Makes one think if coming off of a loss and after gaining excessive muscle mass which halved his gas tank and decreased hand speed would lead to a result we do not expect.
Reminds me of Pacman and Roy Jones Jr being KOed by old rivals in rematches. Both did not respect weight classes and gained extra weight.

 

The safest route would be 3rd GGG, if Bivol manages to beat Artur he will have been well & truly softened up ... only chance Canelo has to beat Bivol ... ofcourse along with Chapi's "Special" mexican donkey burgers & some grovelling to Oscar for his little black book of referee's, Judges & Hookers etc & jobs a good 'Un...

 

GGG isn't moving to 175 because Canelo has to defend his titles at 168. Unless Bivol is willing to go down to 168 to challenge Canelo in a return match, it makes no sense for GGG to go up to 175 to fight Canelo in a non-tite match. Canelo GGG will only happen at 168, that's the highest weight GGG will go.

 

Canelo starts each fight 4 rounds ahead, that is the key to his success. GGG has not fought above 160, so 175 is too much for him, even 168 is a stretch.

 

GGG will be punching holes through walls again at 175, the guy is like the walking dead at 160.
168 is not much of a jump, GGG can hydrate back to 190 at 175.

At 175 I truly believe GGG chins Canelo
At 168 it might be 50/50
At 160 Canelo mops the floor with the corpse

 

He is good in the early rounds and is known to gas in the mid-rounds. That's true.

 

He needs to defend his 168 titles one way or the other by the end of the year though, so unless Bivol is willing to go down to challenge Canelo for undisputed at 168 in a return match, then Canelo may be forced to fight GGG at 168 just so he can have a title defense. Or perhaps he will fight Ryder at 168 in the UK instead of GGG which Eddie Hearn was talking about as a possibility. Ryder at 168 would probably be an easier 168-lb defense than GGG, especially after that war with Bivol. And I think Ryder is Canelo's mandatory who he would have to fight if not GGG.
