Is there a STADIUM in Las Vegas to use for Mayweather-Pacquiao?

Why not Giants Stadium at the Medowlands? I am pretty sure Mayweather wouldn't have a problem going to NJ for a fight, considering they are much more experienced than Texas. Gaints Stadium would be able to hold a ton of people.

I remember hearing that the MGM used its clout to prevent another investor from building a 30k temporary stadium, an idea that was bandied about when the first negotiations took place.

Yeah this fight has to be in Vegas...

Those big stadiums kills the ambiance. And for example, Cowboys stadium is in one of the most depressing surroundings in the world.

Yankee stadium would do for me

Tax problems derail a New Jersey venue

Pacquiao refuses to fight in NY or California due to taxes, Staples Center was willing to put up 20 Million to get the fight the first time around.

I thought Jersey's taxes were lower than New York's... **** that locks it down to Nevada. So MGM Grand it is, unless there is a larger covered stadium because now this fight looks like the earliest it could go would be September or October, destroying an outdoor venue.

The fight is being looked at for November. You ever been to the Meadowlands in November? I have, it's brutally cold. Not only that, but the fighters are looking at losing an extra 7 or 8 percent due to State taxes.

November? ****, well Nevada you have this fight dead to rights. Dickie Cole can't be trusted so Texas is out.

Really, if we're down to Nevada and Texas since they don't have state income tax (I think), then we "should" be down to three venues for this fight that include a much higher capacity then the 16,500 MGM Grand:

Sam Boyd Stadium - can hold 50,000+ people
Cowboys Stadium - can hold 100,000+
Alamodome - odd choice, I know, but can hold up to 77,000

States with no state income tax:

    Alaska
    Florida
    Nevada
    South Dakota
    Texas
    Washington
    Wyoming

Let's say we can eliminate AK, SD, WA :-(, WY just because they aren't viable hosts tourism-wise and you've got the following big venues:

Sun Life Stadium (Miami) - 75,000
American Airlines Arena (Miami) - 20,000

MGM Grand Garden Arena (Vegas) - 16,000
Mandalay Bay Events Center (Vegas) - 12,000
    Thomas & Mack Center (Vegas) - 19,000
Sam Boyd Stadium (Vegas) - 35,000

    Cowboys Stadium (Dallas) - 80,000+
American Airlines Center (Dallas) - 20,000
    Reliant Stadium (Houston) - 70,000
    Toyota Center (Houston) - 19,000
    Alamodome (San Antonio) - 40,000+
    AT&T Center (San Antonio) - 19,000

My guess is that if this fight gets made it's going to MGM. The site fee the casinos can pay trumps any capacity Jerryworld can provide.

LOL at the thought of having Mayweather-Pacquiao at Wyoming, definite hotbed for a superfight

You can save yourself some time and eliminate any venue not named The MGM Grand.
