Yeah. Gamboa a) isn't a prospect anymore (and arguably wasn't by 2008, when he was already contending for minor titles, and had several more pro fights under his belt than FMJ did against Jerry Cooper) and b) has looked comparable in terms of athleticism but never displayed the range of skill and total package awesomeness of a young Floyd Mayweather Jr.

...and that comes from someone else who likes Gamboa. :good

He was aggressive against Corrales and Gatti. Those fights were actually painful for me to watch.

How bout Rigondeux when that guy was still a prospect he has elevated from that status but he may have been more impressve than Floyd with those fast body shot KO's

He is even older than Gamboa. I mean i guess you could but then you would also have to take into account that Rigendeaux has more boxing experience than most of the pros today.

The cubans cant really qualify for it. Their amateur experience is like 10-20 years. Usually they have been stepping into the pros at about 25. Meanwhile PBF and Canelo had only been pros for a year or so. Well Canelo 2-3 years.

Anyone catch that Ximenez kid on last Friday Night Fights?
Was very impressed. He is a 18 year old high school student who kept switching southpaw and doing very well. He hurt his opponent badly in the 1st round but unlike most prospect he did not go crazy for the TKO. He actually applied very good systematic pressure. Either his opponent had a great chin or he has a lack of power. It was only his second fight but if it was the opponents chin then that was really impressive. If its the power then hes in trouble. He is a bantam and that division has some heavy hitters usually.
Really want to see more of him.
