    Literally shot Williams.

    ---
Williams had been inactive the entire year of 1965 while recovering from gunshot wounds he suffered at the hands of a police officer arising out of a traffic stop. Boxing reporter Jerry Izenberg adds "...shot for no apparent reason." Williams was shot with a .357 Magnum in the abdomen, barely survived, and suffered permanent kidney damage, a loss of over ten feet of his small intestine, and nerve damage from the bullet which affected his left leg above the knee, causing it to atrophy as a result. Williams didn't however bear the policeman any malice. Some[who?] thought he had resisted arrest on suspected drunk driving.

    This.

Ali's performance against Liston in the first fight, is much better for me.

Nothing against Ali, but this fight didn't show his skill much at all. He was just showboating. Against a really good fighter, Ali would have simply worn himself out and possibly been in trouble in the middle rounds.

But heck, he definitely was a showman.

Looking at your comment, just because Pac is an offensive type of boxer, you do not think he can display such a skill of a Mayweather? Pac schooled DLH. Pac had him every minute of the round and made DLH quit. Arguably not the best but one of the best I've ever seen.

Extremely aesthetic. But begs the question whether a more boring, but solid and fundamental style would be better in the long run.

the fuk is it with these ******ed Klitschko fans like the OP claiming that this was Ali's best performance. there are far better fights to choose from.

Thats my personal favourite but Ali is my favourite fighter.

There are other displays that are different but equally good in their own way....

    Chavez v Rosario
    Robinson v Lamotta
    Leonard v Benitez
    Sanchez v Lopez 1 & 2
    Whitaker v Ramirez 2 & Nelson

Some might argue these were even better performances if you take everything on board, like quality of opposition.
