Is there an active boxer who can break Hopkins' record as oldest champ? If yes, who?

Obviously Hopkins holds the record as the oldest champion at the age of 46.

Do you believe there is an active boxer today who has the most potential of becoming a champion at the age of 47 or older?
    If yes, who?

Hopkins' victory over Pascal made news everywhere, it was quite an achievement...

Martinez MAYBE. He uses his athleticism too much to do it at an old age unless he learns to change his style up.
Other than that, maybe Marquez, but that's hard at the lower weight classes

I could see Vitali doing it if he sticks around and stays dedicated but I doubt he's interested to continue that long...

yeah vitali I think there eventually will be a old guy that comes out of retirment and captures a cheap belt and takes away b-hops record.

I think Vitali could do it if he wanted to, but it seems he is going to retire after 2 or 3 more fights. I bet he would fancy his chances if a weak champ was to come along and grab a belt.

floyd might do it if he keeps taking vacations and he hasn't taken much punishment even if he was more active. his style is one that can last for while.

Johnson is the only guy I think realistically has a shot, even old guys like Martinez are waaaaaay too far away for me to even think how they will be in 9 years, he depends way too much on his talent and power though I think. We will see.

I could see Mayweather doing it for sure, but I dont think he will be fighting when hes that old.

I dont see it happening. Mayweather although is great fighter technically also relies way too much of his speed and reflexs on both offence and defense. And even though he hasnt taken a lot of punishment in his career by the time he's in his late 30's he will be considerably slower then he is now and he will get hit a lot more and wont be able to get his punches off the way he does now.

Very true. But I also really think Mayweather can adapt his style though. I think hes already adapted as he has slowed down and become slightly less athletic, and I feel he could and would continue to do so. Im not saying I think he will be p4p king when hes 46. But I think that if he stayed at 147, he could remain competetive with his boxing IQ, if his body holds up at least partially.... and I think he would be able to win one last big fight due to his ability and ring IQ against a younger, inexpiereinced fighter that might not match up with him very well.

But I see your point. But at any rate, I dont think we will be seeing Floyd fight past 40 anyways.

Johnson, I could see him doing it if he stays in shape, and continues fighting on a regular basis.... maybe. lol...

I dont know, that is one of the harder records in the sport to beat.

I doubt it as once they are Hopkins age he will be even older and still be the champ

    maybe a late bloomer

anybody now will not be fighting that long

vitali is a good shout but injury prone age will only make matters worse

johnson doubt he fights that long

    cant think a anybody else

below heavyweight unlikely, although with all the titles it will be easier to do it. But a legit title? Maybe the Klitchkos. They are getting olds and in 5 years they could win another title or be a title holder. Does the distinction also mean title holders or only winning a title at 46? Much easier for a heavyweight which is a slower division and age does not matter as much. For a guy 46 at light heavyweight is an accomplishment even if it was against a guy like Pascal.
