Nate Campbell started later and didn't turn pro until he was like 27 or 28
good fighter, I remember one of the HBO announce team (maybe Steward) saying something along the lines of how Campbell could of been a real special fighter if he started earlier (think this was against Casamayor)

Heavyweight Tony Thompson said he didn't start til his late 20's. Might have been 26 but I think it was 28.

George Foreman didn't turn pro until he was like 38 y/o and he became HW champion of the world seven years later at the age of 45

If you compare only uneducated individuals, you can still draw pretty obvious conclusionbs on the intellect of various boxers. Lucas Browne, although I like him a lot, seems pretty dense. On the other hand, Filip Hrgovic, likable or not, is clearly intellectual and very witty. He has a dry humour that puts me in the mind of Magnus Carlsen. Not that he has anywhere near his cognitive abilities of course.
