Is there any doubt that Mayorga/Forrest will fight next?

It makes perfect sense. Mayorga is coming off a big win against Vargas. Forrest has looked good in his last two fights. And i know Mayorga is willing to fight Forrest despite the fact that he will probably lose. And i know Forrest will want to avenge his two losses to Mayorga. But most importantly, there will be good interest. They need each other to get a big pay day.

    What do you guys think?

Ya it makes sense. I would prefer to see a fight beetween Forrest and Karmazin but Mayorga is far more marketable. Forrest would take this one but if he lose LMAO

As much sense as it makes - I still doubt if it will happen.

Remember - Mayorga has been getting paid in his last couple of fights

He had the Tito fight (paid) - then Piccirllo (cheap) - then Oscar (paid) - then Vargas (paid). I doubt if he would want to take a step back on pay - cause Showtime isn't going to put this on a PPV.

I know Mosley was looking at him and we know everyone wants a piece of Mayweather. So, I don't see this fight happening.

Yeah, but this is a business and there is no doubt that him fighting Forrest would give him the best pay day possible. And he's not getting any younger. I was watching the Showtime preview of the Vargas/Mayorga fight and he said that he only fights to make money.

And i don't think Mayorga is afraid of anyone. I think he knows that he will probably lose due to his loss of skills but i still think he will take it based on money and his balls.

I disagree with the part in red. I think this fight is definitely PPV worthy.

As a boxing fan - you and I thinks it's good.

But as soon as you ask someone that a casual boxing fan about Forrest or Mayorga - most of them don't know of or remember either of them. So from a business point of view - the fight numbers for PPV would be horrible.

And honestly - how many PPV Shows do Showtime have a year? One - maybe two at the most.

I thought Forrest lost to Quartey - so he's only had one good outting since that fight. And other than losing to big names - Mayorga isn't doing much himself. Mayorga would be more of a draw in this fight - than Forrest would - cause don't nobody know of him.

Mayorga's options seem limited. I doubt he'll be at 147, maybe Chavez Jr. ????
Or just wait for one of the Big Welters to move up in a year.

Mayorga biggest fight would be a rematch with Forrest. A fight with Ouma would be fun to match as well.

We'll definitely see the Mayorga/Forrest match-up in the coming year. Cotto, Mayweather and the rest are not interested in fighting Mayorga. This is the only fight that makes sense for Mayorga - unless he decides to challenge Corey Spinks instead.

All logic points to a Forrest win, he looked the best he has in like 3 years in his last win, and appears he has got some of his confidence back. Mayorga has got tko'd in 2 of his last 4, and definitely has regressed since his last good performance in Forrest-Mayorga II. But I still believe Mayorga has the psychological edge, I think Forrest still has nightmares about his fights with Mayorga. Even after the Baldomir fight, they asked him if Baldomir reminded him of Mayorga and he said yeah, he couldn't believe the guy kept coming at him. If Mayorga can get to Forrest early again, and keep constant pressure, than I believe he has a chance.
