What torch? Oscar's been a "show" fighter for 4 years now, just getting these fights cuz of his name. Manny's a winner cuz of the paycheck he'll be going home with when all is said and done.

Who cares if Pac wins another belt at LW? Thats meaningless in comparison to beating a legend not too long was separated from him by 4 divisions! Also the best fighter in the world getting the exposure that he should be getting is so well deserved!

Unless you expect DLH to run from Pac, it wont be a boring fight. Other than when MAB ran from Pac, when has he been in a boring fight? This is a fight everyone can talk about the next day and say how great it was...

Im giving it the benefit of the doubt. Why boycott a fight thats likely to be exciting cos you're speculating its gonna be crap. Its made, create the hype and hope it pulls through.

better to look on the bright side of life :)

I assure you PAC will be the aggressive one and it will be EXCITING while it lasts!!!! It's defenitely more exciting than PBF vs ODLH wherein you did not get your money's worth coz they danced for 11 rounds and had some exchanges on the last round.

Both fighters were too cautious to be in a difficult situation that made it boring!

Pac will surely give us some exciting rounds! As a Pac fan I'll still root for him but in the end I don't see him winning! In fact probably only about 2% of the viewers think pac will have a chance to win.

Logic dicates he will lose but I HOPE Freddie Roach is correct in his assesment that PAC can win.

Thats fine...Im more mad at the people who is calling this fight all sorts of things and asking for boycott just because of pure speculation. I think Vitali will beat Peter....does this mean I think the fight now shouldnt happen and is a farce because im giving Peter minimal chance in winning? BS.

You can speculate all you like about the outcome but dont decide on this fight being a farce or that it should have been boycotted before you even see the outcome.

At the end of the day I see many conflicting reasons why this fight shouldnt happen and is BS:

    1) ODLH should be fighting Margo and both him and Pac are only after $$$.

    - Hello, if ODLH is so shot why fight a dangerous fighter like Margo in his prime? If you're accusing ODLH of only being after $$$ why ask Margo to fight ODLH, cos surely that fight would only be for $$$ too for Margo. If he wants a "proper" fight he should fight Williams.

    2) Pac is fighting a shot DLH.

    - A DLH who took p4p #1 PBF to a split decision on his last big fight. A DLH who was 4 divisions above him just a few months ago. A DLH who 80%+ of experts would expect to clean out LW right now should he bring them all up to 147. Shot or not, DLH presents a bigger challenge to Pac than any of the LW's out there.

    3) DLH is picking on a smaller fighter.

    - Their both grown men who thinks they can beat each other. What makes you think you know more than Roach & Pac about their chances against DLH? You may be right...end of the day though, both grown men who fight for a living want to fight each other. Let them prove in the ring who is right between them, and between us fans. Dont leave us all speculating on who really would have won just because some fans are so confident Oscars size is too much for Pac. Ive been confident on certain outcomes before and came out wrong...

    4) There's more important fights out there.

    - Certainly most people dont see ODLH as a major player anymore. As a retirement fight, whats wrong with going up against p4p #1 and a mega fight to thrill the public once again. His days of taking on challenges like Margo are over. For Pac, he would be getting his biggest payday, huge exposure(which in turn will create more exposure for his future opponents) and a fight against an ATG who is a greater challenge than any LW out there. Boxing is about fighting & money, Pac is making money and fighting the toughest challenge out there. Nuff said.

    Nope.

Hopkins went from having no name to being a star in Boxing after doing what Oscar is doing.

I'm not embarrassed by this fight. It makes me sad....very sad. I was looking forward to Pac cleaning out the LW division and becoming an ATG. This fight is great from a marketing point of view, a classic David vs. Goliath battle which people (general public) love to see. The revenue that will be generated from this match up will be impressive to say the very least and it will no doubt attract the Billy Crystals of the world. The ends will justify the means, so they say?!

Now from a boxing fans point of view. We all know what's going on here so lets not kid ourselves. The only way Pac gets any recognition from me is IF he takes an active P4P rated Welter like Margo, Cotto, Williams or even Mosley. As for Oscar......I don't even know where to begin.
"Manny Pacquiao is considered the best fighter in boxing today and I always want to fight the best," said De La Hoya. "I am glad we were able to make this fight happen because while Pacquiao is at the pinnacle of his success and has defeated all of the top fighters he has faced, I am going to show the world that it stops with me.
Sorry Oscar, what you're showing the world is that you want to fight a LW boxer who has to move up 2 weight divisions to fight you. Where is the honour in that? What have you done lately that even allows you to be in the same ring as Pac? A controversial decision victory over Felix Strum? A lose against Hopkins and Mayweather? A victory against Mayorga and an out-gunned Forbes? Wow. Impressive fights perhaps but the results are not encouraging.

It breaks my heart as a boxing fan to even know this fight is going ahead. So much of my faith has been restored after watching fights like Cotto-Margo and the Vazquez-Marquez trilogy but this circus show event has left a sour taste in my mouth. Oscar vs Manny FAIL!!!!!!!

This is a sad day. Even though Manny has nothing to lose, he will never be the same after he gets raped by Oscar. It seems like the Pacquiao handlers are cashing out. I guess for Manny if he is going to lose, he might as well make a lot of money to do it.
As for Oscar, there are so many lucrative and challenging fights for him to choose, and he choose the path of least resistance. I am disgraced and disappointed by his decision to fight M-Pac.
