who has fought as many world champions as cotto has?

this guys resume is unreal, some would call it bad business but still, boxin fans of this era will remember him!

pacman, clottey, margo, mosley, judah, quintana, malignaggi, torres, corley, bailley, lovemore n'dou, maussa

that is twelve past, current or future champions all in the LWW-WW range.

i don't think any other boxer has that kinda resume. least non that come to mind.

Yep, Cotto is one fighter that has consistently fought the best.

While this is admirable, I can't help but feel it's been his undoing. He has been mis-managed slightly, as his career has been set at a 100mph since I can remember. There have been numerous back to back wars he's been involved in, yet he was never given the chance to recuperate with a few comfortable bouts here and there.

That Margarito fight was excruciating, the type that 99% of other fighters would never recover from. Cotto only gives himself one fight (Jennings) before stepping in with another tough opponent in Clottey, which then took even more out of him. Then to make things worse, the following guy he steps in the ring with is one that's been on a relentless war path, brutally blowing away his last 3 opponents.

Such a shame when you think about it

When Cotto 1st stepped on the boxing scene, I didnt like him. I thought that HBO was trying too hard to make another PR attraction to replace Tito. I also thought that he wasnt that skilled, & had a bit of a suspect chin.
But his recent loses he fought like a warrior & never made any excuse for anything, win or lose. Today Cotto is one of my favorite fighters b/c of his determination & his will to fight anyone. Much respect to Cotto and his resume as well:good

Wlad has a share of guys on his resume that held belts. Tyson had plenty. Holy had plenty. Maywhether and Paquiao. Leonard. Robinson. Patterson. Ali.

Quite a few active boxers have fought just as many world champs I think.

Pac has fought 13 world champs, thats not taking into consideration he used up a lot of his big fights in rematches, JMM*2, Morales*3, MAB*2. Clottey will be his 14th.

PBF has fought even more I think, 15.

For the record, Hatton has fought 10 world champs, 9 of them being his last 9 opponents.

are we talking about recent history??? Because fighting 12 former champions, half of em being papery, is laughable compared to fighting 12+ ATG's like Ali or Robinson

I know his name usually brings gasps and glares from most boxing fans but Margarito has a pretty decent list of champions himself.

Best point anybody can climb divisions and beat the bum of the 4 belt holders and move up to another weight and beat the weak link with a belt
