IMO all the hate for Jermain has gone down tremendously since the rematch with Pavlik, before that though he really did receive so much unjustful and unneccesary criticism. I didn't understand why he got all the criticism, he is a gifted fighter, a extremely likeable person, humble, also fights his heart out, fights anyone etc what more can you ask for of a fighter...

Some posters are saying if JT had better Stamina he would have won the second Pavlik fight. I didn't see it as being that close. However, there is a bit of a paradox here, because if JT had performed in the first fight like he did in the second, the judges probably would have given him "the benefit of the doubt," and he'd still be the man at 160.

On a personal note; something weird happened to me during that second fight. Even though I am a HUGE pavlik fan, and was rooting for him, when JT got in trouble in the 11th round, I let out a completely involuntary "Oh No!" I guess that shows how far Taylor has elevated himself in my eyes.

    In two fights at 160 -- he's 1-1 w/ 1 gift in a fight against Sturm....

He showed that - that much weight isn't good for his body or performance.

There is no way that DLH last 12 rounds against Taylor -- JT would definitely KO him ... especially if DLH shows up with that front running bull**** that he's been accustom to as of late.

Jermain is a good fighter ... I think he has more than he leads people to believe. I think that Steward got him to thinking that he could or should knock guys out since they were naturally smaller, instead of working on his skill set. Terrible decision on JT's part ... and to add on he got over confident against Pavlik both times around and didn't take the same approach he did in the 2 fights w/ B-Hop.

He's a good fighter and will win a title again ... possibly one at 168 and 175.

If I were an adviser to him ... I wouldve told him to vacate those damn titles and let Kelly get his fame off someone else. They couldve possibly met at a high weight class.

I think that Emanuel Steward was the worst thing to happen to his career -- Ozell Nelson shouldve held the reigns from the beginning or stuck with Pat Burns who did a pretty good job.

Hindsight being 20/20, I wonder if Taylor lived large after Hopkins and weight became an issue, thus fighting the blown up smaller guys? He tried to get the first Pavlik fight above the limit. He looked much better at 166.

His hand speed is good, but when you throw from the waist with the left and telegraph the right with a shoulder roll, you give that advantage right back. Also, he still has the "Olympic" thing going. He scores points instead of landing hard blows. One body flurry in the Pavlik fight in particular had me thinking, he's pulling those punches so he can get his hands back faster and land again instead of following through trying to do damage (seocnd fight). That is why he was winning the first boxing match against Pavlik on the score cards but was losing the war in the ring(first fight). Second time around, the judges were scoring the other way around. That is why he though he had won.

If he doesn't learn to follow through on a punch he won't do that well at SM. Maybe 4 or 5 at best.

    Taylors quality.

I used to hate on him really bad pre-Pavlik fights but now im a fan. I was rooting for him so hard in the second fight against Pavlik and to be honest, Taylor totally outboxed him. He ran out of gas and lost the last 2 rounds for me.

Its weird because I was cheering on Pavlik in the first one.

I always do that. Like in the first Tarver vs RJJ i wanted Tarver to win. But in the second fight I wanted Roy to win. 3rd fight after Roy got knocked out I wanted him to win so bad but he didnt, and now I still hate Tarver.

    Same with Marquez/Vasquez.

    :D

No hate for the man, but great dislike for him getting (IMO) 3 gift decisions.

Now I REALLY want to see Taylor-Hoya made (a true pick'em where another loss on either guy's record will give me a good chuckle), just because of how bunched all of your panties are over the mere suggestion..

It's largley because of how he looked vs. Sturm and Sturm's stiff jab that makes your prediction look more humorous then serious. Taylor's jab is abetter and longer then Sturms. And I think I read you hold Taylor and Sturm about the same? That right there is your first mistake.

He's a semi-retired, and yes, at least partially shot fighter whose peak weight is well below 160. But less of a threat than Ouma, with whom Taylor looked like a confused, neutered puppy penned in with a skunk? Ehhh...
