You haters hope it's too late! With the lights out power he pocesses, he would be a real threat to any heavyweight if he were to learn to work off the jab, add a left hook etc.
As crude and unskilled as he is, he managed to find a way to KO damn near every man that stepped into the ring with him. His lack of skill forced the best heavyweight to fire his trainer, hire a new team and change his style, just to prepare for a rematch. Let that sink in for a minute.

A mistake in my post Wilder is actual 34 going on 35. His goose is well and truly cooked. He does not listen and his excuses post the fight are indicative. Wilders resume was not exactly deep was it. It’s the Wilder fan boys who cannot face reality as Andre Ward said Wilder is a victim ready to be taken advantage of.

Not even Jesus Christ could help Wilder overcome his deficiencies, he has been feasting on fringe level athletes for his entire career thanks to Satan’s careful matchmaking, it eventually has caught up to him. You can only go so far being a puncher. Imagine Joe Smith dominating the lightheavy Division just because of his punch, it wont happen.

Wilder needs a trainer who can best work with his strengths.

Wilder is in his prime right now, I don't think he has room or time to improve his boxing skills that much considering he is 34 and has about 3+ years in the game left. However a trainer who could help him best work to his strengths would benefit Wilder much more.

Trainers are not miracle workers. A Trainer can only work with the natural gifts a lad has which in Wilder's case is the big cannon. All any Trainer can really do at this stage is teach him to set it up better and maybe add a bit of disguise. Some of those swings on Sunday morning were an embarrassment.
Buddy McGirt has the smarts to do this and perhaps even bolt a jab on to Wilder which would help him enormously. The other big question is whether Wilder is prepared to listen and adapt. If he goes all Mariah Carey on McGirt he'll be looking for another new Trainer.

You may be correct. Time is the great equalizer. This late in the game, the only thing Wilder might have time to improve on is his jab.

I agree. Wilder is crude. Unskilled to a shocking degree for a world champion. But his barely even rudimentary skills, great athletic tools and punch power have taken him a very long way. Even as he is, he has a puncher’s chance against anybody. If he were to improve his skills in a couple of areas just a bit, he’d be a very serious problem for even much more skilled boxers. Given his age, he’s never going to be as good a boxer as Fury, but if he actually learnt to use his jab and learnt a little basic footwork he might not need to be.

I think he's got a decent jab and too a degree, some boxing skill (Seemed like it in Stiverne 1). But he just fell in love with the right hand, which Jay Deas clearly encouraged.
Maybe the Mayweather's can do a job. I can't see him bringing in all new techniques in a short time frame though.

We'll see if he has the mentality to make changes and listen to honest, constructive criticism. I'm afraid, from the way he's been acting after the loss, he will be unable to accomplish much change. Too proud and hard headed.

Mark Breland: So remember, body shot, followed by the left hook. Double on the jab.

Wilder: So I throw the right as hard as I can?

When you finally run into an opponent you cannot easily knock out, you better be able to box.

Any trainer worth his salt will demand Wilder instead of going for first round kos actually focuses on boxing properly and properly setting up the ko after boxing properly
