Is there anybody here that feels Marquez won the first JMM/Pac fight?

Thanks! From what they're wearing, it looks like behind the scenes of one of Miguel's Golpe A Golpe appearances. I just googled for some pictures and this rare high-definition one came up, lucky find! I'm glad you appreciate it.

Pac fans always give this excuse as to why the majority of boxing fans feel JMM won all three fights. I can understand this point of view at first viewing, but I would have to believe the shock factor would have worn off after multiple viewing.

The first fight is my favorite fight of their series. Marquez really takes it to pac once he figures him out. Marquez busts Manny up good in the middle rounds, all the while with a broken nose. Pac gets his shots in too but not enough to overcome the work JMM puts in throughout the rounds.

Boxing "fans" tend to get swayed by the underdog mentality. Thus when "fans" watch, their judgement tends to be impaired when scoring rounds that are close. After that 1st round, emotions get involved and it's hard to be objective. That 1st round was imprinted in most people's minds, and so when Pac has a good round that doesn't involve a haymaker..it's still becomes a questionable round for casual fans. Judges however are paid to see past all that bull****. You say that JMM figured out Pac, but Pac in his own way adjusted and figured out JMM later on in the fight and got his shots in. Whether you actually noticed it is another issue...you were probably caught up from the fact that JMM got up 3 times from that first round.

Forgot how terrible Jimi Jameson's performance of eye of the tiger was for Pacquiao's entrance for Pacquiao/Marquez III.

2nd fight I had it 6 rounds apiece again, with the 10-8 round for Pacquiao in the 3rd giving him the 114-113 win.

I the 3rd fight, I scored it 7 rounds to 5 115-113 for Manny Pacquiao. So on my total scorecards of all 3 fights I had Manny winning all 3 fights by scores of 114-111, 114-113 & 115-113.

I had it on the night by a point to JMM, first time seeing both fight, draw wasn't unfair really but thought JMM edged it and deserved the nod.

    2 & 3 were JMM wins.

I think Pac's best performance was the 3rd one, he was connecting all night with the right hook and was dodging and blocking JMM's punches like nothing before.
He had some success with the left straight counter to the jab as well.

Problem was, he was less aggressive. And that played perfectly into the hands of JMM.
But as far as connecting and dodging/parrying punches were concerned, I'd say he did best at the 3rd, only JMM was at his best too.

I don't disregard that even here (Pac's supposed wildly loyal home), people were favoring JMM, but won't you agree that if you compare the general public's opinion, most of which are casual boxing fans, to people who spent half their lives or most of their time dissecting the sport, don't you think the latter is a more concrete, more unbiased poll?

Fact is, JMM was a huge underdog and the way he "schooled" Pac was something that was never seen by the boxing world since, well, JMM himself did it to Pac 4 years ago, thus the overwhelming public poll results.

NONETHELESS, the fight was still close, any scorecard with a wider margin than 7-5 is subject to personal biases either on the fighter or on the styles of either.

Id have to strongly disagree with all of that.
Pac was clueless against JMM, he was less aggresive that is true, but I believe thats because every time he opens up v Marquez, he was eating right hands.
He certainly was not blocking Marquez's punches, unless you mean with his face!
Marquez knows how to make Pac move in ways he doesnt want to, and I also dont recall Pac countering the jab well at all, but Id have to rewatch.
I just remember Marquez for every minute of the fight looking in control of his boxing, control of his emotions and in control of his opponent.
I just remember Pac looking confused, and when he does that he becomes predictable, and if youre predictable v JMM, youre getting schooled, and he was, thoroughly.
