Indeed. He gassed badly early on in both those fights, and that's something you don't expect to see from Sonnen. At the weigh-ins he looked gaunt and worried as well. Even though he is cut, in that photo he doesn't look strong and healthy and ready to fight IMO. And in the TUF gym he is very large in the torso.

Also he's gotta know that this is his last shot at gold, so hopefully he'll give it his best and leave it all in there. He seems like that type of guy. Also wouldn't surprise me if, win or lose, he retired after the fight. :smoke

I don't favour him over Jones either, and there's a good chance he'll be ineffective with the takedowns early on and then get beaten to a pulp. But maybe he'll feel big and strong instead of shrunken and drained. And Jones has never been on his back IIRC. So if Chael manages to put him there at some stage it will be validation of a sort even if he does get handed a brutal defeat. :conf

Chaels gonna get beaten to a pulp

He did look worried at the weigh in, but who wouldnt be. If youre not feeling right, and you got an angry motivated Spider promising to shock people with what he's gonna do to you, well id **** myself on the stage after theyd dragged me up there

The Japanophile in me says Mousasi tools him but honestly at LHW I can't see anyone.

Anderson is probably one of the most gifted athletes of all time. Definitely one of the most gifted and talented athletes to grace any combat sport. But I really don't see him beating Jones. I think Jones is too big and long and smart to get involved in a kickboxing match and he is so strong in the one area Anderson is weakest: wrestling. Chael held AS down for 6 rounds, so you have to assume Jones could also. The difference is Sonnen did no damage but Jones would be dropping elbows like a mother****er.

Some people say Gustafsson, I don't see it. Actually the more I think about it the more one sided I think it would be

At LHW a single punch could ruin him. Vitors arm bar could have ended him. HW get extra because their lives are at risk. LHW have the similar risk. One flying kick from Machida could end Jones..

i've always felt that machida in a rematch would do a lot better than the first now he knows what jones is all about.
