Is there anyone out there who still doubts Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world?

Mate, Margarito is a WW, not a LMW. See?

If Cotto went up a division and beat a fighter like Diaz, proving that none of his qualities (power, etc.) had diminished at the higher weight, it would mean something. Margarito is a good test for Cotto because of styles, but beating him doesn't make Cotto better than Pacquiao or JMM. It makes him better than Calzaghe.

Pacquiao may not be the most skilled fighter there is, but he is certainly the #1 P4P fighter right now.. Calzaghe is #2 and it shouldn't be as close as some people think.. Pacquiao's resume is way better than Calzaghe's, and even though Pacquiao defeated a non-elite fighter in David Diaz, he did it in a way spectacular fashion.. Pacquiao showed a lot of variety of punches and movement that we did not see at 130.. Pacquiao seems to be in better shape and his speed and power is still with him.. If people still don't agree that he is the #1 P4P fighter in the world, he'll continue to prove he is when he fights the likes of Campbell, Casa, & Hatton..

If Cotto thrashes Margarito, then I would probably move him up to the #2 spot above Calzaghe while JMM would be moved back to the #4 spot.. That's just me though..

If Cotto beats Margo like that it'll be up for debate, I don't doubt that. Mosley, who imo was not shot, was a great win for Cotto. Up there with Pac's win over JMM. Cotto's a damn good fighter.

It'll be great to see 2 prime active fighters (Pac is relatively prime) who fight anyone, and who are promoted by someone who it seems isn't afraid to give us great fights, duke it out for the top spot.

In terms of greatness though Pac is head and shoulders above atm.

Margarito fought at LMW, is a huge WW, Cotto began at LWW but can no longer make LWW. Pac can no longer make 126(FW) and can barely make 130, Pac is now a natural 126-130 as his body has grown, otherwise he could easily make weight like Cotto does at 147.

Also, Diaz is such a limited fighter that size didn't matter, he also never had anything in the way of a really good chin, so it didn't prove that Pac moved his power up, it just proved that his power is still relevant, he crucified the slow Diaz and grinded him down to a stoppage, he didn't just move up there and spark him out in a few rounds.

Make Margarito even slightly bigger, he still gets killed by Cotto, as he's a limited better.... albeit, still a lot better than David Diaz.

You are overrating size here, when it's not even in the equation for these matches, considering difference in class for both.

It's not like Pac moved up and sparked Juan Diaz or Campbell here.

I also don't think a victory over Margarito puts him over Calzaghe, but it doesn't matter also because Calzaghe is keen on retiring soon and is out of the equation by 2009.

Yeah right. Just as my son who often fukks up and steals my credit card, i shouldn't be supporting him, much more listen to him--and just plain disown him. :-((

Give it up already. This JMM talk is getting too blase and disgusting it makes me puke my guts out already. Phooooooooey!!!

Only because they were away and expected the worst from the judges.

For example when Kessler was away in Australia, his trainer said to him before the last round "Mikkel, you are not on foreign soil, you are on extremly foreign soil - you need to KO him!!".

Of course he didn't and he won almost every round - and mostly got those rounds by the judges. However, the point is that trainers fear being away - a lot.

Americans rarely experience this, but travelling to another continent that is 13 (or whatever) timezones different, where they speak another language completely etc. etc. will make many trainers feel like their fighter is behind 10-0 on the score cards before the fight even has started.

If Cotto beats Margarito, where does everyone think Cotto ranks on the P4P list? If Margarito beats Cotto, does Cotto fall off the list and Margarito replaces him in Miguel's spot? How high would Margarito be ranked P4P?

Margarito would enter top 10, by default, but would not be as high as 5 like Cotto is due to his other performances in the last 2-3 years, which have mostly been subpar.
