Is there anyone out there who still doubts Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world?

Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world right now, but is there a real contender at this moment. theres slappy calzaghe who shouldn't even be ranked because he is that bad, cotto vs margorito is the big 1 for me, i'm not a big cotto fan but if he wins then he is number 1 and if margorito wins he will be number 1. the thing with pacquiao is that he has been very lucky, he beat barrera on a bad night, beat a finished morales twice, and got very lucky against marquez twice. other than that he aint done nothing, he came at the right time to take all the glory. i think he will take some time out and then fight hatton, which everyone knows won't be able to handle the pace of pacman. I cant see him going to 147 so then he is going to be around the 135 - 140, so the big fight of pacman career will be against gamboa in late 09 or early 2010.

No way Margo takes the number 1 spot. I have no problem with Cotto, btw.

First, Barrera and Morales were both 29 the first time Pacquiao beat them. I don't consider that past it. And, no beating mexicans doesn't make you P4P #1, but beating legends, like Barrera and Morales does. I actuall had the first fight between Pac and JMM a draw, the last one i had JMM winning by a point. It's a point, if you thought either guy won by more than a point, you've got serious problems (uhm...jealousy, envy). And guess what, JMM is far better than anyone Calz has fought. you can make a case that he's deserved to win all of his fights. If you think he won both Pac fights, then neither the loss to John or Norwood count because those weren't as close. Watch JMM fight, he's better than Calzaghe himself. and also, fighting to a standstill twice with Pac, beating Barrera, Gainer, Peden (twice), Medina, Juarez, Jainding, plus all the others is just as impressive, if not more than what Calz has done. Based on official results, Pac's clearly P4P #1, Calz is #2. But when judging their performances and actual ability, JMM is #2.

It's not about the ethnicity of the fighter. It's about who is the best. Far less contested than Calzaghe's division? Look at Pac's opponents and look at Calzaghe's. If you say there are only a few black and white fighters in the lower weights, then fine, there a only a few latino or asian fighters in the higher weights. Pacquiao has proven himself the best in 4 divisions, and is likely to do the same at a 5th. He's beaten 3 hall-of-famers and 8 champions. You can't compare anything Calzaghe has done to that. Plus, as far as who's the most skilled in the world, no it is not Pac, but it isn't Calz either. Pure boxing skill, it's probably Calderon or Mijares. Overall ability though, meaning your skill and your natural talent, i don't think anyone is close to Pacquiao. He has probably the fastest hands in boxing, maybe the hardest punch P4P, insane stamina, the best footwork in boxing, sound and ever-improving defensive technique, unmatched accuracy with any punch, and combinations that can put anyone else to shame. Who's better overall?

I watched JMM outbox him and beat him twice, so yeah I doubt he's the best. I got JMM above him and Cotto. :good After Cotto destroys Margo....Pac who? :yep

Judging off performances you would have Pacquiao at #1, judging on ability you would have Marquez at #1.

Lol. Its funny how I've already participated in this thread, but have yet to address the main point of the thread.

Anyway. IMO, Pac is the best fighter right now. Being the most 'skilled' or having the best 'skill set' doesn't equate to being the best.

Pac is the best BECAUSE he doesn't have the best skill set or has the textbook skills ala JMM. Instead he has his own 'limited' style but uses them to extreme effectivenes that he can beat a very 'skilled' boxer with that 'limited skill' of his.

That's what makes him the best in my opinion :good.

but that is just mere speculation..merely just your opinion just like other have their opinions as well

just like how i pick MAB before against pac, just like how you would pick everyone else elite against pac because he is "so flawed" as you called yet you rank him as an A level fighter among the elites. He is the best fighter in the world right now and it ain't sure as hell calzaghe
