Is there anyone out there who still doubts Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world?

Well, in terms of skill I doubt that anyone except the most one-eyed fanatics will claim that Pac is the best.

He definitely does not have the best skills in boxing.

He is not a overall good fighter, but the things he does well, he does really well. Such as being very strong willed and very powerful for his weight.

I support his place at one of the top spots in the p4p because he does these things so well, but let's not get ridiculous just because he won the last fight.

Professional boxing is not a contest of skill. It's a contest of hurting the other guy as much as possible whilst getting hurt oneself as little as possible. Where does it say on the tin you are only allowed to hurt the other guy by using skill? Where does it say that speed and power should be discounted? :huh

Whom do you have as a better fighter than Pacquiao, then?:huh

    Wow!!!

No need to be touchy feller. I just said that I rank Pac very highly because he does the things he does so well.

"Where does it say on the tin you are only allowed to hurt the other guy by using skill?"

Read what I wrote again mate. I never said that you are only allowed etc..

"Where does it say that speed and power should be discounted?"

I am not saying it should be discounted. Those are obviously good attributes for a boxer.

I think without a doubt Pac is the best fighter in the world.

Why is it ridiculous to suggest Pacquiao is clearly the best fighter in the world?:huh

Feller, you are reading things into my post that I didn't say. You obviously are very emotionally attached to Pac, but please read what I write.

I think it would be ridiculous to suggest that Pac is the most skilled (or anywhere near) fighter in the world. However he is good and suggesting he may even be the best is not ridiculous.

calzaghe had a disappointing outing against bhop sad to say...

and let's not talk about hatton yet coz as what arum and pacman said in the interview, they'll be staying at lightweight to mix it up with a few LWs there..

He may be the best p4p in a kind of h2h sense, but it would be ridiculous to claim he is anywhere near the most skilled (I am sure we agree on that).

I don't think there can be any doubt that Pac is P4P #1 now.

Pac and Calzaghe are clear top 2 by some margin now.

I agree that Juan Marquez brings a question or two Pacman's ranking as P4P Champion although any suggestion that Calzaghe ranks above Manny is straight up insanity.

You don't become P4P champ by beating Kessler, Lacy and a 43yr old Hopkins. For the majority of Calzaghe's career he was a protected species and never had the balls to step up and fight the best.

Pacman has always stepped up....they are lightyears apart.

Hmmm, I think you are overlooking many aspects here, and being far too dismissive of Calzaghe.

If we are honest the divisions that Pac fights in are far less contested than the divisions Calzaghe is fighting in. While there is the occasional caucasian or black fighter small enough to fight in these divisions, Pac has basically created his name fighting latinos and asians. You could (if you wanted to be a little extreme) claim that his belts could be called the 'Latino-Asian championships' in somewhat the same way that 'World Baseball League' could really be called 'American Baseball League'.

p4p is ultimately h2h, how skilled they are is just an idication of how they would fair h2h.
