Is there anyone out there who still doubts Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world?

He KDed Marquez three times in their last fight, didn't he? Marquez is probably the second best fighter in the world and he has a style advantage over Pacquiao. Of course their fights were close.

Do you think Guzman is a better fighter? On the basis of what recent performances, precisely?

I didn't see an A level performance against an aging JMM.:yep:think

I guess you could call it A- if you'd like, but Pac fans will say that JMM's just stylistic poison to him, ignoring that JMM is greatly vulnerable to southpaws and has been troubled by B- southpaws who had quickness like Pac. Both are poison against each other, JMM put on A level performances in both and was the clear victor in both, regardless of the paper victory.

Didn't see an A level performance against Larios, didn't see an A level performance against Solis(this was terrible).

But as to better fighters than Pac, ranking them as just superior on skill and ability, as well as other intangibles and H2H, let's go with definites in -

Guzman, Mijares, Cotto, JMM(this is an obvious),

Here's some guys who would be better than him at 135, which doesn't negate his P4P area -

    Campbell, Guzman, Juan Diaz.

    ..............

These are my views on the matter and you still reacted way too excited over David Diaz.

Which fighter has consistently performed at a higher level than Pacquiao lately (in the last 2 years or so)?

To answer your question here I say absolutely not and I have the prime example with Ivan Calderon.

He fights in probably the poorest division in boxing, even poorer than Heavyweight and is routinely ranked top 10 P4P, despite struggling with a top 3 fighter in the division and barely getting a win(Cazares, who's not the best in the poorest division in boxing, or 2nd poorest)and gets massive credit mainly from grape vine talk and I feel it's incorrect.

How do you fight nothing but C+'s and B-'s, barely beat the B- and become a P4P top 10? Horrible.

People you shouldn't forget that the pound for pound #1 status is mainly given to a fighter's great accomplishments, much less his talent.

Based on special accomplishments overall, I do feel Pacquiao deserves the #1 spot right now !

Calzaghe is close behind and Miguel Cotto in my view should be considered #2 if he wins against Margarito !

He hasn't consistently put in A performances, I have already explained.

    His last 2 years -

    Morales 3 - A

    Larios - B

    Solis - B

    Barrera 2 - B+

JMM 2 - A-(though, we can debate it's less, he got schooled for most of the 2nd half of the fight)

    David Diaz - A

    .................

For good measure, let's check Cotto's latest -

    Malignaggi - B

    Quintana - A

    Urkal - B

    Judah - A

    Mosely A

    Gomez - A

    .............

See the flaw with your ranking system?:good

It's firstly totally subjective, which most are and it's second not accurate. Seems Cotto scored more A's, I better rank him higher than I already do, but I'm not.;)

    Why? It's Margarito.

Margarito is in no way a top tier fighter, much less an elite fighter, Cotto would have to clean the rest of the division's guys, then he could no doubt be ranked #2, but not just off of Margarito, add in Clottey, Williams and another with Margarito and you can do so.

If all it takes to garner a high P4P ranking is defeating Margarito, then where is Williams? Better yet, since Andrade is even better than Margarito and of a similiar style, what's Bute going to rank if he beats Andrade and where does Kessler rank for schooling Andrade 12-0? Can't do it that way, obviously.

Yeah, Cotto does come close, but not close enough. JMM also comes close...

On your A-F scale, apparantley he does, but in my own personal opinion, no, he doesn't. Thought I clarified that in the post.
