Is there anyone who dislikes Trinidad?

Never liked him as a boxing fan to be honest.

 

As a Puerto Rican, eh. I rooted for him in all his fights but...I just never really liked him much.

 

I was on ESB around 2000 and his fans were what *******s are right now. It was mainly PR folks(no disrespect my PR boxing brethen)

 

I'm not that big a fan of him to be fair.

I think the way he fought Nando was outrageous.

 

Love to watch him and is rarely in a dull fight.
But I was on an another boxing forum a few years ago and there there Tito fans that literally believed he was the best WW of all time H2H. Ridiculous claim, and he is often looked upon in a similar way on ESB as well

 

i didnt like what he did to vargas which was really shady, glad winky outboxed him and made it look easy too

 

I didn't dislike Trinidad, but after Hopkins' trainer (Nazim Richardson) exposed his hand-wraps and the rumors that he would dip his hands in water to make his wraps cast-like, I felt it was reasonable to question his punching power. :fire

Look at the way he ruined David Reid and hit him low several times throughout the fight.

DLH was also robbed against Trinidad.

Then you have the sound from the left hook Trinidad landed against Vargas. It was like a bat hitting something. Trinidad also went low against Vargas when he (Vargas) had him in trouble.

 

They're handwraps though.. Oscar wrapped his hands illegally as well. As for Vargas, the mother ****er was on steroids. Whether or not he was on it before the DLH fight, we shall never know. But ya, Trinidad was overrated to an extent. But not now, I believe he's rated where he should be. One of the best fighters of his era.

What happened in NY, During the lead up to the Hopkins match, was that Richardson noticed he had tape directly on his skin which is illegal in NY, but at that time was NOT illegal in Las Vegas.
in other words he wasnt loading his wraps, wasnt doing anything illegal in that sense, he was simply doing what he had done so many times recently when fighting in Vegas.
Difference is, it was against the rules in NY

 

Nobody wants to hear that...they prefer to taint his career with that baseless BS.Not only were his wraps legal, but against hopkins brotha Naz made papa Trinidad wrap his hands with enough gauze to make a pillow.The only thing illegal going on that night was Hopkin's headbutts, there is a video around here somewhere counting over 25 butts. This thread is proof of how underrated Tito is on ESB. Now saying Hearns would blast him in 3 is bull**** too, especially when comparing Tito to Duran who was a naturally smaller guy vs Hearns.

 

Headbuts holding and hitting low blows all night that night I know.... whats funny is how people talk about what a masterpiece that fight was by Hopkins and how much praise he gets here for his way of out fighting these young guys.
But dare bring up Evander Holyfields wins over Tyson or Bowe, or even Holyfield and I promise you those very same people will flip flop and talk **** about Holyfields head.:-(

 

Agree...Hopkins was as dirty as ever that night, wonder why he declined a rematch after putin on that masterpiece.:think +1 on Holyfield.
