Is there ever a legitimate excuse for a loss?

Do all boxers who lose a poor decision petition to have the loss overturned?

People who lose to PED cheats like Roy Jones have a legitimate excuse. With his glass chin, without being artificially enhanced Jones would just be an Amir Khan clone. :nod

    This is unrealistic.

You're a fighter who gets injured in training camp and you're not a 'big name'.

What do you do? You don't fight you don't get paid. You don't get paid you don't eat. Your team doesn't get any money and the promoter that you backed out on probably doesn't ask you back since you cost him a bunch of cash.

The fans feel ripped off if you don't show (especially if you're the main event) and stop supporting you or call you a duck or one of a million other things and are less likely to go to your next fight.

It's not as easy as you make it sound.

I understand this, your only option is to fight. You do your best and if you lose, just shut up and ask for a rematch praying to get it, if you cannot get it inmediatly, ask for a rematch later on and show that you are better than him.

There is nothing uglier than a boxer making excuses, for me it is just disgusting. Wait, there is another thing equally disgusting, not giving a rematch to someone you won and you know positively that he was injured but said nothing and gave you your credit.

I realize that it is my own perfect world anyway, and that real world doesnt work like that, but i wish.

Some do, who really feel that they have been wronged.

But some don't and they may still publicly disagree with a decision, sometimes for years to come. Woodhall falls into that category, only in the reverse.

Like I said before, props to Woodhall but I still haven't heard of a fighter trying to get a win changed to a no contest or a loss.

Nor have I but that's not really the issue at hand. :conf You can make an excuse for a loss without trying to get the result changed.

A big YES..........................Herrera beat the **** out of Garcia, yet was cheated. Khan was cheated in Wash DC.................ad infinitum

Home town decisions are become the standard today, the house fighter almost always wins no matter how bad he looks...............

Excuse, no. But, an asterisk or shadow put over a fight? Sure. Examples of what could do it: PED's, injuries, catchweights, robberies.
