Is there no film whatsoever of Harry Greb in an actual fight?

Seriously, this is a goddamn travesty. Is there none? Or is it just not available to any of us?

Theres none. Some dimwits refer to the training footage as an example of his fighting ability's. By all means ignore them.

come on man we must look to the future with hope - there has to be some out there somewhere - someone got it for sure - they is no way in the world that film of a Greb fight wouldn't have been shot - everyone elses fights from the era were filmed so why wouldn't the very greatest fighters fights have been - its ridiculous - the footage has absolutely got to be there - we just gotta hope whoever has it gets a life and makes it public :clap:who ever you come on - let it go

I wanna see he Greb-Tunney fights. All of them. I'm a Tunney fan and it would be an honor for me to see them. More fights from Greb would be appreciated too but I REALLY want to see the Greb-Tunney fights. I'm sure someone has Greb fights they have to.

Kinda bizarre isn't it? No damned film at all??? It's almost unbelieveable..and somehow I believe that SOMETHING will be found, something will turn up...in some jackasses basement or in some old dowager's personal possesion...left to her by a late husband who was a boxing fan or a film collector...and she dosen't have the foggiest idea of how valuable that film is...somehow someone will discover the "holy grail" of boxing lore...

Look it was a huge breakthrough years ago when the training foot was discovered. It may have been late 70's or early 80's ... before then there was absolutely nothing of Greb on film ...

I refuse to believe that there isn't SOMEWHERE...hidden away somewhere..a film of Greb in action. The absence of Maxie Rosenbloom films is also screwy.

Just as strange, their is no film of a later Maxie Rosenbloom who also fad 299 fights and who fought his last fight koing Al Ettore in 1939...Everyone prominent that Maxie fought is on tape except him! Greb and Rosenbloom
    not on TAPE!!!
Yes truth is stranger than fiction !

There are rumors that Greb-Walker is indeed in private possession, and has been brought out for clandestine screenings by guests under a vow of silence, just as SRR-Docusen was widely suspected for years to be in the hands of Docusen and his family.

We know for a fact that Greb-Walker and Greb-Tunney I were filmed, which is apparently more than we can assert for any match of Rosenbloom's. If Greb-Tunney I was important enough to both be filmed and broadcast live on KDKA radio, then one would assume that considerably more celluloid was spent on Harry in the succeeding years. Although nobody around now saw him fight live, what's weird to me is that nobody has even claimed to have seen action footage of Greb in a movie house, something which ought to have become a routine occurrence following the repeal of the interstate boxing film ban in 1940. (Burt, if any youngster was likely to see movie house footage of Greb during the 1940s, I'd have pegged you as a strong candidate, but you've never made any such claim while here at ESB.)

IF there is indeed some actual film of Greb in action, it's probably, like red cobra says, a case of someone not having the slightest idea of the priceless gem he or she has stored away in the basement

I can't believe some collector out there has a Greb fight - and hasn't told anyone. It would be a secret too big to keep!

Well, again, look at Robinson-Docusen. SRR died over 21 years ago, and one might suppose that's when the film of their match might have been most valuable, but it only surfaced a few months after Bernard passed last year. (We're damned lucky it didn't wind up in the Jacobs-Cayton collection, or ESPN would have it now, and we'd have never seen it. Ditto for the Greb footage we do have.)

I don't see how people can rank a fighter without even seeing them fight

I'm not buying it. Boxing isn't horse racing or athletics, I think you have to actually watch someone fight to compare them with other fighters in a list
