Is there no film whatsoever of Harry Greb in an actual fight?

JJ, Klompton has posted primary sourced quotes from contemporary newspapers, confirming Langford being way out of shape and, as I stated "hog fat".You have posted nothing but insults in reply to him.
You cannot win debates in this manner.
You go off like a firework whenever a statement of yours is even questioned.

Spewing out scumbag, scumbag ,ad nauseum.

Channel that energy and rage into rebutting his points
By stepping up to the plate and producing primary sourced information that refutes his ,otherwise you are just making a noise.

I'm trying to explain to you that contemporary newpapers directly contradict your stated opinion .If you have proof to refute this post it!

La Presse, Paris, December 21, 1913:

    Sam Langford

    Weight: 84.250 Kilos

That comes out to 185.74 pounds.

Im sure L'Auto, La Boxe et Les Boxeurs, and Vie Au Grande Air would back this weight up as well.

Im anxious to see these sources that Joe Jennette will bring to the table.

I am a very pragmatic person. To me, the most important criterion in evaluating a fighter is his ring record. Keep in mind that a fighter's record should be examined very closely. A good case can be made that Harry Greb has the most incredible ring record in history. Anybody with Greb's record is one of the greatest fighters in history even if he had such an unorthodox fighting style. It is that simple.

Going purely based on record, Sven Ottke would be ranked a lot higher than if you watch him on film at least once.

In a nutshell...just look at the names.

And this is the same man Johnson wanted no part of as champion.

One day I believe a Greb film will be found. He was in too many filmed matches. Some has to have one if them. Best guess is Greb vs Walker may be found one day.

I wonder what Klompton would offer to purchase it.

Why? Technically Svenn Ottke was not a bad "looking" fighter. The problem is that he had some dodgy decisions (a lot fewer than our American press let on though). If Greb had a bunch of robberies grafted to his record I could see the argument but Chuck is arguing (and I agree) that a record requires research into the context of the fights. If there is one thing about Greb thats impressive beyond just the names on his record its the high level of consistency he exhibited throughout his career. For a guy with 300 fights his record is remarkably controversy free by and large and the controversy that is there is usually because he is on the losing end, not the winning.

I can't stand Ottke's manner of fighting, he's pressing an opponent holding both arms up high only to jump straight back several feet when they throw a punch at him. What's the point? Either defend yourself by catching punches on your arms, or use footwork, not both at the same time and in the most inefficient manner.

I think you would have to see a few clips or snap shots first. 98 percent of those who watch boxing today would not be able to identify Greb in an unlabeled film.

Would you rather see Greb vs Tunney ( the one Greb won easy in 15 rounds) or Greb vs Walker

I would definately have to verify it, which I feel confident I could do, particularly if its one of the fights I know to have been filmed.

It doesnt matter to me which fight it is although as Ive stated above Im not convinced the Tunney fight was filmed.

Of the big fights that were filmed (Gibbons, Moore, Walker) Id want either Gibbons or Walker. Both were big, important fights and both were aesthetically pleasing. The Moore fight was considered kind of a dud.
