Is there no film whatsoever of Harry Greb in an actual fight?

    Just trawling the internet on the subject and come across this. No closer to Harry Greb but I thought it was interesting. it's a list of fight audios that are available for a price. Some interesting fights though.

    Burt.... Charlie Norkus Jnr from time to time posts on boxrec, i seem to recall him mention a time when he tried to acquire some of his fathers fights from ESPN, they basically spat in his face, though being the the gentleman he is he didnt put it that bluntley. ESPN are a rare breed of swine.

    :twisted::twisted::fire angry!!

    i think he's just pointing out that facially there's a bit of resemblence. no one is EVER comparing their skills (clearly though, gatti looks better in training footage than greb)

    i may be in the minority here but i'm thankful for even the training footage that was found on greb. i know he was only "play" sparring with o'brien but it is nice to see one of the greats on film.

    Yet when YOU become the eyewitness through ancient grainy film from the 1920's everything changes and we can all trust you to pick and place them flawlessly and without bias?

    Yeah...

    There's no doubting Greb's greatness....That's obvious. What is difficult however is imagining how he would do against other greats without knowing exactly how he fought since there is no available film of him. That's frustrating as well as extremely difficult. We can only guess as to what he looked like in action. That's infuriating.

    Very frustrating. Would love to see Greb, more Burley, Murderer's Row, and even Maxie. I'm young but love to look at older fights of the skilled fighters. Then to think pros got techniques from them is also amusing to me.

    I saw many of the fighters Greb beat. That, the contemporary reports, and his ring record is enough for me. It is strange there is no known film on Greb. For what's it worth, Sports Illustrated mentioned someone saw a Greb film in the 1960's. There is also a story out there that someone wanted to sell a Greb film to Bill Clatyon, but Clayton played games, and the seller walked away.

    Will we ever see a Greb film? I think so. And if we do I think he will look a bit like Billy Conn on offense, and Joe Calzaghe on defense, with Marvin Hagler's toughness mixed in.

    What's bad is there is also no footage of either Johnny Dundee or Memphis Pal Moore, who were described as being similar to Greb (or Greb being similar to them) in style. These two had another 600 bouts combined.
