I dont Understand how u can schedule a press conference and fight when one fighter hasnt signed anything or agreed to anything. why isnt Arum on top of his sh*t?

It was a great but strange fight to set up considering that Rios is damn near a Light Welterweight and alot of people feel it would be too much to handle for Gamboa. Gamboa has not lived up to what Arum has wanted him to be, i think he knows Gamboa is unhappy and ready to leave his stable, which maybe explains him seeking a deal with Floyd. Is Arum trying to get him beat before he goes?

not trying to put dude on the spot but heres a interesting quote i saw yesterday by a poster:
and now im hearing Top Rank is trying to offer 100k to the winner. basicly begging for Gamboa to go through with it. and im hearing that Arum is trying to get Gamboa to sign with Top Rank for another 5 years. and thats why Gamboa is not going through with this and would rather go somewhere else and be a free agent. Is Arum trying to pressure Gamboa into this fight and staying with Top Rank?

what do u think about all this mess?

I don't give a **** if Gamboa leaves Arum, but not at the expense of sabotaging such a big fight. Why the **** would Gamboa call out Rios then? Also Gamboa could have let everyone know he hadn't signed anything, before the promotion and ticket sales started. This all looks really bad on him and I hope he gets some bad kharma his way for ****ing over the fans.

I posted a similar thread. Something is fishy or this is a promo stunt. Why isnt TR releasing an official statement or Gamboa an official statement. They are acting as if the fight is still going down, but everything indicates the opposite.

I feel as if its true that he did not agree, then WHY WOULD TR organize a T.V date and Press conference to begin with? Not why Gamboa would wait this late, but why would they even set anything up?

exactly. sounds like there trying to pressure him into a fight hes never agreed to. as u can see on ESB, hes been labeled as a coward. and now TR is offering an extra 100K. i dont know what the hell is going on to be honest but something aint right!

Something was wrong with this fight from the get go. Rios is considerably bigger than Gamboa, and it's a stupid fight for him to even ask for.

Nothing fishy about it. After Gamboa visited Floyd gym, he contracted chicken pox and suddenly was afraid for his health.

It doesnt make sense that Gamboa would move upto a weight he has never fought to fight the strongest guy in the division. Its a very high risk fight and a big gamble for the future of his career. Rios has less to lose cause win or lose, hes an exciting fighter that peopke like to see fight and his O is less important to promoters.

Rios is a 5'8 junior welterweight fighting at lightweight. Gamboa is a 5'5 featherweight.

Fight was weird from the get go.
