Like in Rocky 4 it shows Drago punching that "machine" and it showed how powerful his punches were. Is there such a machine that can do that. I was talking to my friend today and he said that theres a show called Science and Sports and they measure the power of cetain punches, football hits, tackles ect. I never heard of such a thing . Its this true or bull****?
Oh yes, machines that can measure the p.s.i. of a punch (or any force you want, really) do exist. Marciano tested on one, a bunch of heavyweights in the 80s tested on one including Tyson and Bruno. I don't know why they don't get used more, could be a great gimmick. "I punch with the power of a 40mph Mercedes!" Mind you, I guess it'd be a bit demoralizing if you find out you hit with the power of a 2mph Pinto, so maybe that's why they don't use it so much...
Why aren't they used in boxing then? That guy I was talking to said that a lot of football players talked with the same force as a 35mph truck, I told him no one would be alive then, cause i'm pretty sure if you put a a huge football player in the middle of the road and have a truck hit him at 35mph he would die.
There is a documentary called "fight science" and it takes top fighters from around the world who are all experts at various fighting styles and with the use of state of the art technology they manage to measure everything from a punch to a grapple. Its usually available on google video or youtube (or you could try OVGuide dot com to find it)
yer i read a thing about hatton hattin a bag with a left hook an they rekon he produced 400kg of force behind it.
Yes there are! And they are very accurate. On discovery channel there is/was a programm about combat sports which testes all kind of blows. Want to buy one?
Well Enzo Maccarinelli punches woith the force of a 50 mph 3 ton truck according to his PSI test. Which, of course is just ridiculous
