Is this a bad list? What would you change?

*I just don't understand how Holmes,who beat no one of significance, is #4... but niether Klitschko is even considered... Wlad has defended his title 10 plus times and the is the most dominant heavy over his div since Holmes was and shows no signs of relinquishing the thrown... Vitali has the unbeleavable feat of never trailing in a boxing match at any time during a fight... and neither get any dap..?

 

Most of the ususal suspects are there ,pretty solid list, I would have some in a different order but good effort.

Holyfield at 9 and Lennox at 5?

Umm.. NO.

Holyfield beat better fighters that were closer to their primes. Holyfield beat a much better version of Tyson. Also, Holyfield was far off his prime when Lennox got to him and Lennox couldn't even dominate him even with having all the advantages possible. Holyfield is also a 2 division champ and 4-time Heavyweight champ and never got KOed by nobodies.


Lennox is an ATG, but Holyfield (whatever way you look at it) ranks higher.

 

Try convince me otherwise if you disagree.

Great list really - other the Lewis being in the top 5??atsch:roll: Only joking - definately great names all of them - I can't really comment coz my top two is

1.Rocky Marciano
2.Jack Dempsey

......and then goes from there

but yeah on your list certainly there's no-one drastically out of place other than Lewis (who I have at 14th) - there's certainly logical arguments for everyone being where they are on your list - APART FROM LEWIS!! MOVE HIM!!

It's an ok list. At least Tim Witherspoon isn't in your top 12.

I don't think Lewis should rank so high either. Holyfield should be above him, and, no, getting rocked badly by Bert Cooper is not worse than being out for the count against Hasim Rahman.

I'd have Holyfield above Tyson too, and Lewis below both of them. The reverse of your order.

I'm not sold on Jack Johnson either. If you're going that far back, Jim Jeffries might deserve a place somewhere.

Dempsey is too LOW. Dempsey was rated as the equal of Joe Louis for years after both their careers had finished. But I guess that depends on criteria.

Holy has beaten more world champs, beat better fighters and achieved all this while being at a constant disadvantage throughout his career (his size and his heart problems).

Lewis had the advantage of his size. He won A LOT of his fights because of his size. Holyfield never had that luxury.

 

Jeffries and Johnson are of comparable historical ranking. I'm not sure I'd rate them at all though.

You DO rank Tim Witherspoon in your top 12.
And you think Dempsey's behind David Haye.
That's flat-earth crackpot stuff. I think you need to retire.
