Why is everyone acting like a checkhook is some holy grail of punches? Depending on the fight, you could see a ton of what some people would call “check hooks” and others would call “counter hooks that happen to have some movement with them”. This **** happens all the time.

    Quoted for truth.

Why the **** does it matter what you CALL it? If it’s called a check hook does that somehow make it better? ****, I’ll take a boring old left hook that lands flush and drops the guy to a picture perfect “check hook” that doesn’t.

As you said, it’s open to interpretation BECAUSE IT DOESN’T ****ING MATTER. We’re not building fighter jets here people; every part doesn’t need to be 100% clearly labeled or else we’re ****ed. I personally would call PBF/Hatton “more” of a check hook because Hatton had more forward momentum and so pivoting to your left gets you a better angle to a) land the punch on the jaw and b) follow it up or move off. With Peter, he wasn’t coming in the way Hatton was, but it was still a perfectly timed counter hook right on the button. Whether you call it a check hook or not doesn’t matter at all.

The only people who are looking foolish here are the ones who are insisting that every punch must fit a category and that it matters which category it’s in. **** me you people just look for ANYTHING to flame about sometimes.

Why has no-one analysed the check grab at 2.40 yet?

    It's a thing of beauty.

It's not a "debate" dip****, it's a bunch of tards flaming each other by pretending that something matters that totally doesn't.

Max Kellerman said on the HBO Broadcast last night that Gamboa just threw a check hook, but I missed it. Did anyone see it/notice it?

Yes! He basically did the same exact thing that Wlad did. This is what I said before. It happens all the time in boxing. Most of these guys simply don't know it when they see one. It's not some magical punch that only comes around once a century.
