The bottom pic is from his bout with Herrera. The first pic does look like a very young version of him facially. And he was a southpaw. I would love to know the site you got it from. I've been trying to get any details of his bout with Fernando Cabanela but always draw a blank. Scartissue
Anyone ever heard of any other footage about other than the Herrera fight? Faced a few opponents we have a fair amount of footage of, and in a fair few title fights.
Not sure if there's any footage of him at Flyweight, although I thought I heard that the Salvarria fight was out there. Would love to see that one and his stoppage win over Betulio Gonzalez. The guy must've been an absolute tank at the weight.
Al it's boxingmemory.com Bujia; the Betulio fight is the one, damaged him so badly he refused to continue. A beast and IMO the greatest Thai fighter (arguably, depending on how you score Kingpetchs best wins)
Don't wanna be name dropping here but i was with Herrera, Zarate and Zamora last year. I was talking to Zamora about Olivares and he said do you know that Herrera beat him twice. I said yes and then he said did you ever see the Borkorsor fight, i replied yes and said yes brutal wasn't it. He smiled and nodded his head. Just shows you, out of all Herrera's fights he picked that one. Must be well remembered down Mexico way.
Al, I met up with Herrera about 2 years ago. As you undoubtedly know, Herrera does not speak much English, but can sort of claw his way through it. However, his wife speaks fluent English and really helped out. Anyways, two questions I had for him was firstly about the first fight with Castillo. So little has been written on this one that I asked him if the bout was stopped on cuts. He immediately stopped me and said very honestly, "No, no cuts!" And motioned to me with his hands that Castillo laid him out. Very interesting, very honest and I would love to know more. But the second question I brought up was about the fight with Borkorsor, and his wife chimed in that when they were returning to Mexico on the plane, people were screaming that he looked like a monster (remember the photos of both eyes closed shut at the end of the fight? Well, he must have been some sight the next day when the swelling and discoloration really set in.). I would have really liked to have spent more time with him and picked his mind, but what can you do? Scartissue
If Alfonso Zamora is in awe of a fighters brutality :deal Poor Rafael, that's a quality domestic memory :good Chaps, these are two brilliant anecdotes and a valuable insight into Borkhorsors reputation. Thanks a bunch :thumbsup
From an old thread I started: Is the Aussie wizard still about? Ain't really been constantly posting on the Classic for a while, hopefully he is. Pea, as per Salvarria fight hopefully that's true. Next time I go to Thailand I'ma use my chicks to hunt down collectors for me. I've asked 'em about Borkhorsor before, but got nothing but vacant slanty-eyed stares ;-) And Al, you were right, some ****in' resume on this matey :deal http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=32611&cat=boxer Any info....can only bring up the Heavyweight atsch
Anyone ever heard of footage of the Salavarria fight? If anyone has any tidbits of information on Borkhorsor please let me know :good
