They are both in their peak and in prime.

The only bad thing though is when a boxer loses, many would say "oh, he's shot and blah blah blah". excuses would come up, often degrading one's name.

He's slightly past-prime, I'd say. His peak was from Judah to Margarito. If he was 100% against Margo, then i'd say he's between 90-95% of his prime form now.

But he's not shot, or damaged. He never looked scared against Clottey, he kept fighting, he kept boxing and he adjusted. People say Clottey threw that fight away, I think Cotto just out-smarted him.

Its like this cotto physically is no doubt in his PRIME. However mentally in my opinion he no longer is. To me boxing is 70 percent mental and 30 percent physical. I believe you can win a fight before you even step into a ring.

However the beating cotto sustained against margarito has definitely changed something about cotto mentality in the ring, he looks even more vulnerable than he did before.

In conclusion its a tricky question, physically cotto is most definitely in his prime. Mentally im not so sure.

All Im reading is PacNuts saying the Cotto fans are gonna make excuses...lets flip it tho, when Cotto beats Pac are we gonna hear the excuse

    * He was too small for Cotto?

All will he get the props he rightfully deserves?

Looks to me like Margarito beat the prime out of him... but only time and future fights will tell if I'm right.

Clottey is somehow still getting underrated because he's not so spectacular, but a very methodical boxer. Cotte did well against Clottey when all is taken into account, Clottey could have sealed the deal if he took the opportunities, but he didn't and Cotto got a close decision. Against Pac he will be at his very best and he will probably not get cut from a headbutt, so there is no excuse for Cotto this time he's definitely prime or very near his prime.

He is prime now but not anymore on Nov 15. There is such a word as "shot overnight". Else, how would you explain him losing to Pacquiao? A prime Cotto cannot lose to Pacquiao.
