Wierd post name. But just in regards to the wlad v joshua fight. I know that klitchko does a lot of sport science stuff himself. But it seems to me joshua does the most i ve seen. Hes based a lot of his career on it. Think he detailed his training recently and it was more sport science based stuff as opposed to the boxing. My question is...is saturday the night the sport science brigade are proven right once and for all. They had a tough time breaking into sport. But their winning the fight. I believe it works...but it shouldnt be used as a substitute for the boxing training. Personally think a lot of coaches have regressed with the boxing training. Thats where the priblem lies. Theres no cus d,matos etc nowadays. But who really knows. I m not saying joshua does no boxing training it just appears that his camps are based towards the sport science side of things more as opposed to say mike tyson. A lot of that was boxing training. Very good boxing training at that. I fancy klitchko to win it. I ve criticised joshua from early. Too slow footwork. Bit robotic. Stamina will go because of the muscle. Big arms come down etc. But what if joshua comes out and blows klitchko away...do we concede that it works. Is it the night the sport scientists say we told you so. Would be interested to hear anyones thoughts on it.
As you say I think it's clear Joshua does more sports science type training than boxing training and that shows. That is not a boxers physique and he hasn't got the best boxing technique certainly to win a gold medal. I can see where you're coming from but I don't think you can say that sports science would be the main reason for this fight as the age gap is so big and Joshua should have all the physical advantages naturally anyway.
Yeah good point mate. The age gap is big. Theirs big questionmarks over klitchko atm also. But it does start to become a...its only molina hes knocked out. Its only charles martin. Its only dillon whyte. Now it would be its only an old klitchko. But tbh theres not that much left to beat. Wilder. Parker. Ortiz. But for different reasons if he sparked klitchko you,d have to start to believe he,d probably treat them the same way. He had the natural advantages anyway...but joshua hasnt always been that big...they ve put a good bit of muscle on him since say the whyte amatuer fight using these methods or even the olympics. I actually think klitchko will beat him...but if joshua treats him like hes treated everyone else i ll probably need a rethink on how important sports science is in modern day sports. They ve loaded up on it. And so far so good. I actually think i ll begrudge him it because its not really down to boxing skill but just being stronger more powerful etc. A bit like the williams sisters at the tennis.
It's all good until you face someone unpredictable and awkward like fury Who is the polar opposite of the sports science route. I think the ultimate athlete would have to encompass everything. Like you could have the best product of sport science in the world but when you come up against someone like lomanchenko who switches angles virtually every two seconds it makes it impossible to counter that unless your brain can cope with that level of complexity. In other words it take someone that can act and adapt to new stimulus at any given moment. Sports science will never compete with that. With regards to Joshua, yes klit is more athletic , a better mover, better experience, etc but I don't think it's quite enough to stop the speed and force of someone like Joshua at this stage. There not on a level playing field
Good post mate. Thats my way of thinking...eg mayweather pretty much reigned for years sometimes against the bigger stronger guy down to solid boxing fundamentals. Plus many more like him. Just wondering if its maybe the heavyweights with them having no limit. Its kind of niche for the sport science. It wouldnt quite work the same at the lower weights. But for a big guy they ve managed to keep joshuas speed. Think probably cause hes a decent specimen to begin with. But usually if you stick 2 or 3 stone on anyone...their speed slows...a lot. Stamina isnt as good. But the majority of us that like to think we know better than the casuals with our....hes too bulky. The muscles will tire. Arms come down. Hes fighting nobodies. Stamina will go. Boxing fundamentals will beat him. Etc. etc. Are we about to be proven wrong. I ve always been a criticiser of joshua. Always knew he was good...but always believed fury...klitchko...and maybe one or two others would beat him. At one point fancied parker and ortiz to give him big trouble and wilder was a bit of a toss up. If he treats klitchko like he has done to his past opponents...he wont but if he did...is it time to re evaluate things. My only other explanation is performance enhancing drugs. Without pointing the finger at joshua alone. Because theres a lot that seem to be on them. But is it an explanation for sticking 2 or 3 stone on him...and he still seems as fast. Stamina still appears to be good. We know punches can sap stamina but outwith taking a good shot he looks like he can do about 15 rounds. Still sticking with my prediction...klitchko will beat him. It,ll be down to fundamentals down to klitchkos footwork. Klitchko will get on top and it ll be a frustrating night for joshua. Before he gets stopped. But will be the first on here...if joshua does a number on him. Klitchko,s old now. Hes had bad preparation in terms of not fighting since a loss to fury. But still you d have to give joshua massive credit cause it still is klitchko. If it was a tight fight you,d be able to say...maybe the jurys still out but if he battered him like hes done everyone else. I think its time to say...this guy contrary to the criticisms is the goods.
For me aj isn't a great boxer he stole his Olympic medal and I don't rate him that highly but he could improve. Klitchko went 12 with fury so we know he can do it however he didn't throw too much. I think aj needs him out in 6. In regard to the muscle you mentioned he's put on, I know there are guys out there with phenomenal genetics but to be burning the calories he will burn doing all his training it would be a neat miracle to gain muscle like that without peds. Did you see his gut at the weigh in compared with klitchkos he's got that bloated bodybuilder look
Agree mate. But admittedly i m not too sure whats possible with the type of training their doing...clean. probably be boys on here that,ll have a better idea. comparing the two at the weigh in tho...klitchko looks like how you,d expect with the type of training hes doing. Quite athletic. I still say at 41 its unnatural tho. But again i m not sure what is or isnt possible. Whereas joshua has an odd unnatural look to him. No major problem if he achieved that clean...with bodybuilding although the bloated stomachs suspect. But boxing training even sport science based boxing training...i m a bit dumbfounded by it. Hes put on a good few stone. His stamina looks good. Hes explosive. Hes still fast. His powers unbeilevable. What is he eating to keep that up. Its not a plate of chicken and broccolli for dinner surely. You,d need to be eating 4,000 to 5,000 calories. Maybe more per day. How do you do that and still keep your stamina. Not talking about his stamina after he gets hit. But his normal stamina...looks surprisingly good.
that place in sheffield where brook and joshua train, isn't that supposed to be a government funded place strictly for gb athletes? It's a bit unfair that these few pros train there and get the advantage of high class training knowledge (on the physical/fitness side), facilities and maybe the "supplementation" that comes along with it.
Fair enough. Whats perplexing me tho is joshua appears to be on something different to the usual. Theres very few you can compare joshua with maybe david haye in terms of the look in comparison to say klitchko or fury etc. Most of the guys that have been done are the guys you dont really expect because they dont look like their on anything. How come joshua appears to be stacked and yet theres few heavyweights today that look in top shape. You,d expect them to be stacked also. He on something the rest arent. Plus has david price just not got the memo yet. Or is that him with peds. Hate to think what we,d get pedless.
He's genetically gifted and on peds the rest arnt as gifted He runs 100m in under 11 seconds at 17 odd stone and 6ft6 he's a genetic freak.
I would be shocked if any of the top athletes in sports like Boxing, athletics and other sports (insert here) were not on PEDs. Surely to be at the very top, you need to push the envelope and get that edge everywhere you can? And...who cares quite frankly. Its part of elite sports.
These theories have always been there, every time a so called big fight is announced the scrutiny begins. It does not matter one iota, once they step in that ring the fight begins and whoever is on what, the one who loses actually loses, he sacks his team and blames them, probably because he believed he couldn't be knocked out or lose and goes in to meltdown. It really does not matter, it is only a fight, and at this level and the money involved none of the two are really bothered. The social media hype for this has, to be honest been quite disgusting, questioning people's faith, Joshua seen in a mosque Etc. Like i said it is just a fight, and may the best man win. Personally, i would love to see Joshua win, and will be rooting for him but i am fearful because he is so young and inexperienced, i hope he does have the hunger, and understands the position he is in, and if he does he should prevail. I just don't see it though. Wlad by rd7.
Good post channy. The original post wasnt really to go down the drug allegation route but it ended up veering that way. Good luck hope the best man wins tho. I fancy klitchko for it big time if i m being honest. But will be supporting aj. Tbf the guy has turned his life round with hard work and dedication. You cant knock that. I ve been one of his biggest critics tbf. But willing to concede i ve been wrong if he does the business.
How has Joshua praying to Allah got anything to do with this fight ? It's not linked in the slightest He was seen in a mosk people made comment? Which before his fight camp
