nearly had a street fight? thats not good but somehow imagining it, it becomes hilarious, no not very good at all. sounds like he had a lot of paradoxes as that doc suggests, didnt realise how much though. ironic how careful he was with $$$ and end up losing it all.

i also heard as a kid he was involved in fights and gangs almost sounding as though he was like tyson, but theres a lot on him being a little punk with a big ego, any truth to this?

This doesn't sound true to me. The reason being is that this story would have been highly publicized but this is the first time I've heard of it.

Art Rust Jr always spoke poorly of SRR as a person.

Obviously as did Basilio. Robinson was a dick to Carmen and Carmen lost all respect for him.

nobody likes a guy who thinks hes better than everyone else, people didnt like him during his career, he got a lot of trouble for his behaviour especially regarding fights and contracts.

LaMotta was scum. We don't know all of what Ray and Jake did in their lives but Jake speaks of committing more than one **** in his autobiography. He also talked about beating his girl in a drunken blackout and thinking she was dead. He was worried about it messing up his career, so his brother suggested dumping her body in the lake.

New York used to have a statue of limitations for ****, but now they don't.

I'm not sure how "cleaned up" he is. He may no longer be a criminal, but judging by this article, he still seems like a piece of **** with no remorse.

The documentary "bright lights dark shadows" says some interesting things about Ray that really sums him up as having a real bad side.I found the Basilio part here at "37 seconds" in just so funny typical Carmen rough tough and to the point [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP_-kRVvfQk&feature=related[/ame]

Basilio one of my personal favorites,he has autographed 3 photos for me.
