Yeah, I know about that, But LaMotta has himself admitted to raping a young girl, hitting his wife so hard he thought he killed her (he and his brother were discussing how to get rid of the body when she woke up) and beating a man with lead pipe so badly that he thought the man was dead for many years.

Another very interesting story concerning Ali and Robinson is told in Ali's autobiography.

They are both at a party where Ali gets infuriated with his then wife Sonji for her low cut dress, drags her into the bathroom and slaps her around. Ironically, Ray knocks on the door telling Ali to cool off. Ali does no such thing, isntead tells Ray that if he doesn't **** off he will come out and beat the **** out of him. Ray made himself scarce.

interesting for Ray to do that considering how he beat his wife, I thought Ali saw him as his idol, seems as though Ali was following in Ray's footsteps though. Imagine if they fought each other, wonder how that would even go down?... i knew Ali had bios, didnt know he wrote his own.

Yeah, that's why the story came to mind. Kind of funny in a sad ironic way.

Don't think it was anything personal, Ali was just furious and in no mood for anyone to intervene.

Ali was of course much bigger and in his early 20's while Ray was in his mid 40's... Ali would have beaten the **** out of him if it came to that, I'd say.

It was written in collaboration with a professional writer. One wonders how much Ali even collaborated, since the whole him dropping his olympic medal in the river thing was made up seemingly without him knowing about it.

This story though was a transcript from a taped conversation between him and Sonji, with Sonji retelling the incident. There's also a transcription about a very interesting conversation he and Frazier had while Frazier was giving him a lift into New York.

It wasn't the autograph as far as I know. Ali met up with his idol at a young age and begged him to train him as a fighter. Sugar constantly denied him as (then) Clay rose through the amateur ranks and eventually made it into Sugar's circle of acquaintances. That was until Ali became involved with the Nation of Islam.

The book, "Ghosts of Manilla" points this story out.
