Yes.. I believe Cotto is very well on his way to becoming one of the biggest athletes in boxing right now.. He's not far from the #1 P4P spot and he's also the man at 147 atm.. If he beats Margo, the spotlight will be even more on him.. I see him getting more recognition and fans as time goes on.. The spotlight will be on him in a couple of years..

Does this mean that you have him jumping over Calzaghe with a win?

    I would as well bro.
Cotto is fighting all comer's right now.

Reminds of how De La Hoya's career took off.
dude is defo on his way, the 26th is the launching pad.
    Win or Lose.

I would still maintain Joe C at no.2

Ive lost a lot of respect for him for taking the Jones match, after himself declaring two years ago that he didn't need Roy because he was shot. However, I find it very hard to move Cotto above him, based on the fact that he is favourite for the Margarito fight (therefore expected to win), Margarito isn't above him/near him in the P-4-P ratings, and the fact that Calzaghe hasn't lost or gone through a significant spell of inactivity to warrant a drop.

I think what Emanuel Steward says about Miguel Cotto is why he is the #1 welterweight in the world currently. It is also why I think he has the intangibles heading into this fight in just two weeks, which will lead him to victory and possibly a higher ranking on the mythical P4P list.

"He can adjust to whatever he has to adjust to and find a way to win. Cotto fought the best guys at 140 pounds. He got knocked down. He was staggered. He was cut. But he found ways to win. He's fought more of the top guys at 147 than anyone else with the same results. He wins."

I was just thinking too that while Margarito has something to prove in being that he can excel against an elite welterweight and become champion, Cotto has something to prove in being the undisputed #1 welterweight and if he KO's Margarito, he can become the #1 P4P fighter in the sport. This is just further writings on the wall that Cotto is really taking this fight seriously and training hard in order to cement his legacy by taking out his #1 threat to his future.

Boxing is blessed with Miguel Cotto and Kelly Pavlik.
With upcoming stars as Juan Manuel Lopez, Jorge Linares and many many more, the future of this sport looks promising :happy

And yes, this is Cotto's moment :good

I see you're sporting the Margo avatar. Well, if Cotto wins, will you be won over by him or will you just admire him as one damn welterweight champion who can't be beat for the forseeable future?
