Is this Duran's best performance outside of Leonard I?

I actually think it's his best performance.

The way Duran takes away Palomino's strengths (even in close) his left hook to the body (by turning him constantly) as well as out-punching (flooring) and dominating (I scored it wide) is just fantastic.

I really like his patient dissection of Guts Ishimatsu as well.

Just about...probably my most watched fight. Entertaining as all hell and inside a nice neat 10 round distance, so I can watch over breakfast or after I get home from work later.

Id say almost no one beats Roberto from the second DeJesus fight aswell...Thats one of my fav Duran performances.

Yep, he was the correct blend of his earlier manic aggression and the later more patient fighter. Fantastic fight, DeJesus does his part to make them all competitive and exciting.

I love that fight too, but I think he beat a much more experienced fighter in Palamino, and he fought a much more technical fight than against Moore, it could be argued. For me, Duran's greatest ever performance was probably against Barkley...but Palamino, Leonard I, Barkley, and Moore...are all masterpieces.

I'd say so. I think he looked just as good in those fights as he ever did at LW.

"Duran-Moore" is my all-time favorite ass-beating to review upon being totally tweaked and in the mood to rumble........ Maybe I am sick, but I drool at the mouth even here in 2009 when I see Moore getting mauled and beaten to a pulp by Duran on my videotape....... I never get tired of that massacre..........

I think so. In fact, I think Duran was actually better at this stage of his career than he had been at 135. I think he was stronger and sturdier with the added weight, while also more experienced and disciplined, and still retaining much of his speed.

This was an impressive fight and I think the 2nd Dejesus fight was too,as was the Lampkin fight who many thought had a good shot at beating Duran. His knockout over Kobayashi was great also and he was very young then. The Barkley and Moore fights were great but that was a just a shadow of the lightning fast and hard hitting Duran of the past. Just goes to show you how great he really was.
If he didnt fade out the last couple rounds against Hagler that win would have arguably put him at #1 ATG.

The Palimino fight IMO is his 2nd best performance.

Cant believe the **** I've been reading about Duran in the GF recently. I know their morons but its disgusting. This was a superb win but Leonard I takes it imo.

Ive long thought that Duran`s top 3 performances were... in no order....

    Dejesus III
    Palomino
    Leonard I

Roberto was ready for the great Sugar Ray Leonard at the time of the Palomino fight, no doubt, I dont think he actually improved in the time frame between Palomino & Leonard, he just added more contenders to his victim list to earn his shot the old school way... the Palomino version would have put in no less of a performance vs Leonard than the actual version.

I used to watch the Duran-Palomino fight regularly just to view the class of peak Duran... not seen it in a while, might watch it today at some point, Im feeling a `Duran phase` coming on again.

    :good

I think so to, only Dejesus III is on any sort of par with the Palomino & Leonard fights IMO... he looked every bit one of the 10 best ever fighters in those fights.

These are obviously fights that the guys who vote `Pac KO Duran` havent seen.

They wouldn't care even if they had seen these fights. They're casuals.
