Is this Duran's best performance outside of Leonard I?

The Villa fight is a seriously underrated one.

    Agreed.

My copy isnt the best quality...Black and white, a little grainy.

But you could tell Villa was something special..poor **** just ran into Benitez and Duran...and Locche from memory?

    Hard ask beating those blokes.

I am not claiming it is one of his top 5 performances, but has i recall Durans Fight with Cuevas was seen in many quarters as a Bye Bye Roberto fight, Coming after a loss to Kirk Laing and a very laboured showing against Jimmy Batten, Many felt Pipino had a good punchers chance, of course faced with that hint of Danger and Machismo Challenge Roberto ressurected himself and earned the Davey Moore fight with the brutal dismissal of Pipino, for two rounds it was a tense affair awaitng someones mistake, then Roberto went into Savage Overdrive....

As i say perhaps not one of his top 5 - Cuevas may not of had a lot left, but Pre Fight the common feeling was that this would not be easy, But Roberto ultimately made it look that way.

I was impressed with Duran's ability to take Cuevas's punches like they were nothing.

The third DeJesus fight may have been his best performance in my opinion. Duran may have looked every bit as good against Palomino and Leonard as he did at 135 but not in the fights he had in between. He was awful by his standards against Zeferino Gonzales and didn't look too awesome against Nsubaga or Wheatley either.

He phoned in the Heair fights a bit aswell IMO.

Jimmy took an awful beating and as usual stood up to it...but Roberto looked puffed at times dishing it out..certainly not as fit as he looked against Carlos or Ray.

As I say, like his patience and accuracy in the fight with Guts. The Koyabashi fight is a savage display, some beautiful black and white footage. Has anyone seen the whole Marcel fight?
