UFC format will not work with boxing, Dana does not want to pay them the money. A boxer can earn in one fight what the top UFC stars earn in a career. He keeps all the sponsorship and endorsements in house too. Ngannou earned 500k for his last fight.
Miocic perhaps the greatest heavyweight all time has career earning of less than $6 million and a net worth of less then $8million. Mike Tyson for comparison earnt $500 million through fights and endorsements. Lennox Lewis has a net worth of $150 million. Tyson Fury is said to be worth more than $60 million.
Not many boxers earn what the top UFC fighters do, only the top boxers are the ones who get more Ngannou earning 500k is ludicrous if you really think about it, with the size and popularity of the UFC.... Before he left, he was offered 8million to fight Jon Jones, I can't remember but that may have been total or without ppv points. Either way, too UFC fighters are certainly fairly compensated Top boxers and disgustingly over compensated, which is part of the reason the big fights consistently don't happen.
You're comparing one of the top 3 most iconic boxers of all time to a low level popularity UFC fighter Not fair at all I never disputed top level boxers can earn more, they certainly can and will My point was you thinking ngannou was making 500k a fight The UFC model is far superior to any boxing model in terms of getting the fights done Once the fighters get big money, aka ngannou, McGregor etc, it quickly goes sideways, they stop wanting hard fights and seek silly compensation for easier challenges
I'm comparing the two greatest heavyweights of their respective martial art. How much do you think Miocic would be worth now if his discipline was boxing? He was rated on the "high" tier UFC pay bracket earning a minimum of 500k per fight. His last fight against Cyril Gain he earned £484,000. That was his purse. His sponsorship from the Reebok deal would be $40,000 a fight while he is champion and for fights when he was not champion it was $10,000. I never said that wasn't the case? The thread is about Dana White entering boxing. Using the UFC model Dana white is NEVER going to sign any top level fighters. He will however have legions C level guys knocking his door down.
Sorry, but what does this have to do with boxing ? It would be great to have a new platform who are willing to invest a lot of money in boxing. I would love that because it keeps the Promoters and the TV stations on their toes.
UFC pays peanuts in comparison to boxing, it's why the all want to have a boxing fight etc as that's where the cash is, the UFC fighters really are severely underpaid, I'm not sure if they still are but they couldn't even get sponsored clothes as the UFC had a deal with Reebok
Low and Medium level tier UFC fighters will earn more than their boxing counterparts of course that's not to say they are fairly paid either.
Ngannou also made PPV points. And most guys on UFC cards make more than the average boxer on comparable cards. This content is protected The top headliners make the big bucks, yet everyone else gets peanuts in comparison. https://www.sportspayouts.com/mma/ufc-fight-night-221-salaries-purse-payouts/ The whole pay argument only comes down to the big names. And heck, even Costa got a 4 fight deal reportedly worth 4 mil. The UFC is paying their dudes, otherwise competing companies would be able to poach all of their talent. *no, I am not arguing that their pay is great or anything. It´s OK and definitely not as bad as people make it out to be.
