So I just received a copy of Joe Louis autobiography. I paid $30 for it, and it's a really old book with no artwork on the front. To my surprise, when I opened it up, I saw a Joe Louis signature dated to 1948. Does anyone know if this is real? http://imgur.com/a/FUQuA
Probably fake, it doesn't look close to his authentic signature https://www.psacard.com/autographfacts/boxing/joe-louis/67
Also if you try to buy the book on Amazon, there are a few "Collector" options that range in the $200-$500 range. And those books come with a Joe Louis signature. This book came in with some pretty solid packaging that seemed "overdone." I think they may have accidentally sent me this book, or more copies are floating around with his signature.
It says First Published in 1947. Nothing else. The book is really old. Like almost disgustingly so, but in a charming way.
Looks like it could be real. If the person you got this from buys and sells large volumes of old books, they may well not have checked it closely enough to notice something like this.
Here is the Amazon listing by the way: https://www.amazon.com/My-life-stor...r_1_12?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1496020495&sr=1-12 Something tells me the $40 copy is signed too, but I'm not sure.
Like something you'd check out from a library. Now that's OLD!!! Looks like you lucked out Rez. Good job bud!
By the way, I got it from the same seller that is selling that copy for $45. I'm tempted to get that one too because there's a good chance for a signature in there as well. But I'll give it a few days in case someone else from here wants it.
