More than one Joe Calz stoppage have been far worse than that. Nevertheless, horrible fight. I mean he was pounding him harder just before it and there was no stoppage. Then again, they where both in it anyway.
no this is...**** quality might be a better one out there. 4 mins [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2E6sGjNGo4[/ame]
There are three videos of non-stop bad Joe Cal stoppages. At least 80% of his alleged knockouts are on them.
No Calzaghe stoppage was worse than that. Danny Williams was just punching Charr 2 seconds before the stoppage.
Questionable yes, but not SO bad, if you see the entire round. (this vid cuts off maybe 20 seconds.) Oltmanns had absolutely nothing offensively. IIRC, Wilder had been peppering him with strong jabs, totally in control, and it was just a matter of time before Oltmanns would have been seriously hurt. He wasn't exactly fighting Paulie in there: Wilder may have the most devastating OH right of any current fighter. (Manny Steward thinks so.) Oltmanns just avoided serious brain injury, so while the ref's stoppage was indeed somewhat "questionable," it was also smart. ------------ The Charr stoppage, on the other hand, cannot be justified in any manner. Charr wasn't even connecting at the end. He was using the patented "Pac" method of just hitting air. The whole thing looked like a staged play, and it probably was. Just a set-up for the Vitali fight.
