jab a fighter into the ropes and picked off shots with his gloves - Bradley 2 consistently cut off the ring- first half of algieri
That's the only strategy out there for him. what do you want him to do, box Mayweather from the outside? Good luck with that LMFAO.
lol Pac will spend more time with his back against the ropes than Mayweather. I believe Freddy is just blowing smoke again.
Makes sense that Freddie would adapt the DLH game plan because it was relatively effective. Throw in Pac's speed and sp stance and it could work. Freddie said he knows what dlh did wrong. Im pretty sure he will build on Oscars game plan.
The problem with the game plan was that oscar couldn't finish a 12 round fight when he was 26 much less 34.
Floyd had better legs when he fought Oscar as well. Pac will land a lot more punches that Oscar did. So, were talking about a game plan that Floyd struggled with (im talking relatively here) + the fastest fighter Floyd has faced + a southpaw (yes this is relevant) + punches from mad angles and can be relentless.
He doesn't fight guys on the ropes. He just doesn't. He also doesn't know how to cut the ring off that well. If he did, he would've gotten Algieri out of there inside 6 rounds. I rewatched that fight a few night ago on the internet, and I was surprised about 2 things- Pacman's handspeed has slowed down CONSIDERABLY and he didn't do a good job cutting off the ring against an average boxer. He might back someone into the ropes, but he doesn't keep them there. That's a HUGE difference tactically speaking and unless he decided to change his entire fighting style at 36 years old and feels he'll be the stronger man inside the clenches, force FLoyd back to the ropes, keep him pinned there and go to town on him, than I don't like his chances at all in this fight. You can spin it any way you want, but if you actually watch the Pacman fight througout his career, you'll know his aggressive style is best suited in and around the center of the ring, and not on the ropes. DLH had a modicium of success because he's 5 foot 10 inches with a massive reach. The thing people are forgetting about the rare instances that fighters have been able to keep floyd pinned on the ropes for long periods of time (castillo, DLH, Maidana,) is that they were naturally LARGER men than FLoyd. Pacman is NOT. Once you see who the bigger man in the ring is before the bell sounds, don't be too shocked to see what unfolds afterwards.
At first I thought you were being sarcastic in your first paragraph. You do realize Pacquiao did his most damage against Bradley on the ropes. 14 punch combination? On the ropes. 10 punch combination that Bradley said made his vision go out? On the ropes. Over hand left that rocked Bradley? On the ropes. The worst danger Bradley was in happened at some point on the ropes... I mean, holy heck. Pacquiao is a monster when his opponents are on the ropes. Just watch....any recent fight. Marquez round 5, Bradley rounds 6, 8, 9, Algieri round 9, 10. Those are round where Pacquiao hurt his opponent the worse and guess what? It's when they were on the ropes.......
And there you prove YDKSAB. Keeping someone on the ropes is not cutting off the ring. It's infighting. Cutting off the ring is getting them to the ropes. When the angles are open southpaw vs. orthodox it is extremely difficult to keep an opponent on the ropes. JCC is the all time best at keeping opponents on the ropes. Even he had difficulty doing it to southpaws like Whitaker. This is just basic ****ing boxing.
I predict this will happen on the ropes. Manny feints the hook. Floyd rolls. Manny nails him with his overhand left.
Manny isn't or wasn't ever the fighter oscar was. They are completely different, and oscar during his prime was just as fast when he would open up. Manny looks fast because his range of motion is so small lol Prime oscar would not have much problem with prime Floyd. But yes, the one that Floyd faced, manny brings more to the table I think, especially with Floyd slowing down quite a bit. And realistically, floyd was only able to beat Oscar, when oscar slowed down in the latter rounds but when they were both fresh, oscar was in fact outboxing prime Floyd. I believe Manny can win this, and I believe Manny may expose Floyd and have people after the fight saying "floyd is shot".
