so many great matchups have been made. its certainly better than any year during the 90's, were the best simply ducked the best for the most part

2007 is the only year that can compete with it as far as i can remember

I think last year far surpasses anything that's happened this year. 2007 was one of the best year's we've had in a long time.

2007 was probably better for boxing because we had the two mainstream maywather fights against oscar and hatton

this years definitly better..... more exciting match ups (margo vs cotto?, c'mon now what could be more exciting?), more exciting super fights (mayweather vs. oscar was garbage, and mayweather vs. hatton was a mismatch) and a more exciting pound for pound champion...... i honestly think this years been great, and i agree.......one of the best years of boxing i've seen in quite some time......from super featherweight to welterweight, theres alot of monsters that can make for potentially monsterous fights by the end of the year..... and if haye can deliver with his promises even the sorry ass heavyweight division may be able to be revived..... and by the way is that mayorga-mosley a done deal?

I think there is no such "mega" fights like PBF-DLH (highly overrated) or PBF-Hatton but overall the 2008 is much better than 2007, because there are 6 divisions which have mayor fighst between the top guys to establish who the real champion is: BW (Marquez-Vasquez), LW(Campbel-Diaz,....), JWW (Hatton-Malignaggi), WW(Cotto-Margarito), LHW(Calzaghe-Hopkins/Tarver-Dawson), CW (Haye-Maccarineli/Adamek-Cunnigham), HW (Wlad-Ibragimov)

    PAC-JMM 2
    Vasquez-MarquezIII

The LW division alone gives big input:
    Campbel-Diaz
    Casamayor-JMM :bbb
    PAC-Diaz
    Guzman-Campbel :bbb
    Katsidis-Casamayor :bbb
    Diaz-Katsidis
    PAC-Valero :bbb

    Then LWW
    Bradley-Witter
    Hatton-Malignaggi :bbb :bbb

The WW is a little worse with PBF retirement but still interesting
    Cotto-Margarito :bbb :bbb
    Margarito-Cintron
    Williams-Quintana 2x
    Judah-Clotley

    Mosley-Mayorga

    The SMW was entertaining
    Abraham-Miranda II :bbb
    Pavlik-Taylor II

    The LHW is getting interesting
    Tarver-Woods
    Dawson-Johnson
    Dawson-Tarver :bbb
    Hopkins-Calzaghe
    Jones-Trinidad
    Jones-Calzaghe

    Cuiser is exciting
    Haye-Maccarineli :bbb
    Adamek-Bell
    Kraj-Godfrei
    Arslan-Willson
    FLores-Willson
    Cunningham-Adamek :bbb

And most importantly there was unification at HW, and some interesting fights
    Klitchko-Ibragimov
    Peter-Vitaly
    Haye-TBA
    Wlad-Povetkin
    Wlad-Thompson
    Povetkin-Chambers
    Valuev-Lyakhovich
    Valuev-Ruiz/Golota ?
    Peter-Maskaev
    Golota-Mollo
    Toney-Rahman 2
    Virchis-Gomez

...... and the biggest entertainment .... PBF RETIREMENT!

    according to oddschecker its done:
    http://www.oddschecker.com/other-sports/boxing

there are some great fighters below super featherweight. super bantamweight and super flyweight are amongst the strongest in boxing

THESE DIVISIONS ALWAYS SEEM TO GET FORGOTTEN ABOUT EVEN BY HARDCORE BOXING FANS

    WHY?

I still think last year was ridiculous. We have yet to see what fans pan out in terms of entertainment, so it still up for grabs. Don't forget last year you had vasquez-marquez I and II. Plus Cotto-Mosley and Cotto-Judah were very entertaining and Marquez-Barrera was a better scrap than Marquez-Pac as was the first Taylor-Pavlik fight compared to the second.

rafael marquez and israel vasquez had a rather good trilogy @ super bantam
we have juan manual lopez (a mini cotto) @ that weight

at super flyweight there is christian mijares, FERNANDO MONTIEL and ALEXANDER MUNOZ. the first and the latter were in an epic a few months ago

at flyweight there is the very promising Nonito donaire

marquez MAB never had the drama of JMM v Pac 2

I would say that 2007 gives us more exciting fights but the best fights of 08 have been better than 2007 and there is still 5 months to go.

The vasquez-marquez fights and the Pavlik V taylor fights were the only classic fights to give us really great drama.

    cotto-mosley
    calzaghe V kessler
    mab V jmm
    cotto v judah

all were greatly entertaining fights but they never had the drama of JMM V PAC 2, Katsidis V CASA or Issie V Marquez 3

you are right about 07 being ridiculous. every week we had a fight to look forward to. it hasn't flowed as wel this year
