    There are three problems:

    1. The level is not what it once was. That's a given. BUT, if you think about it, the recent period hasn't been that bad. I mean, Adamek, Haye, Povetkin, Arreola, Chambers, Dimitrenko, there are plenty of good heavyweights outside the Klitschkos. I'd argue, this period is the best since the 2000. Issue here is...

    2. For some reason, people prefer blood spill and pwnage to the tactical side of the sport. I don't. In fact, I'm fascinated by boxers like Klitschko, like Mayweather who make it look all that easy. Ironically after utter domination the same boxers get slammed for a boring fight.
There's nothing fun in concussions to the head, in seeing boxers going out the stretcher or other similar scenarios. What should be appreciated IMO is the ways a boxer fights and wins. What top boxers do so well, that they (almost) always come victorious. But I guess it's up to choice.

    3. Nostalgia of past times. And the truth is, sometimes this nostalgia is totally unwarranted. I mean, what did we have at HW? We had a great period in the early 90s, we had a great period in the late 60 early 70s and maybe in the period of the second world war. Otherwise, I really don't see this period being inferior to any other period. I just don't.

I think haye has brought a lot of life back to the heavyweight division. And as boring as the valuev fight was, if in england i would go as i think it would be timber time.

I agree with ThreadStealer that the era wouldn't seem as bad if the other fighters actually went up against each other. All they do is stand in line, sometimes trashtalk, wait for a Klit, then back out or get the crap beat out of them. It's a 'storyline' built around two very bland personalities. Efficient and good fighters, but make no mistake, they have very little overseas appeal for a reason.

I think Haye-Adamek for example would be more exciting than any other fight right now, and that's including Haye or Ademak facing a Klit. The fact is, if there was a list of Top10 fights for this heavyweight era, very few fights wouldn't include a Klit.

Compare that to great fights from other eras like Bowe-Holyfield III and Foreman-Lyle where they weren't the champions and no belt was on the line, but they were still good scraps that helped to build up each fighters' recognition and legacy.

easily the dumbest post I've seen in a while.

Tyson was famous because he a very crowd pleasing style and he pretty much destroyed fighter that was put in front of him. Not because he was hanging out with rappers lol....

It's a credit to the Klitschkos. They are so DOMINANT that they make it look easy.

The brothers are like fine art. Masters of their craft.

I really thought this was actually going to be a good year for the heavyweight division. Believe it or not, there are alot more talented fighters than in the past decade and some exciting fights to be made. Unfortunely, these guys just aren't fighting each other. This past weekend was a great example. I mean, come on, Albert Sosnowski? I would love to see any combination of the following guys get in the ring together: Adamek, Haye, Tua, Chambers, Solis, Povetkin, the new Sam Peter. I mean, Adamek-Arreola was an entertaining fight. There are more fights like that to be made. I would love to see: Chambers-Adamek, Peter-Arreola, Solis-Tua, Solis-Haye, Povetkin against anyone with a pulse. Unfortunately, as is almost always the case nowadays, the promoters and managers get in the way. That is probably the only advantage MMA, especially the UFC, has over boxing. Could you imagine what the heavyweight division in the UFC would look like if Dana White didn't have total control over the matchmaking? The biggest fighters would never fight each other.
