with guys and there boring styles and no heart out there in the ring.

i believe we as fans should be up in arms about guys like

Ricky Hatton (and his hit once close the opponents hitting room and clinch for dear life, then every now and then hit low)

PBF ( for the best most exciting fighter in the world ive only seen this guy show me once he was devasting and that was aginst a done Gatti)

Cory Spinks (a guy that some how thinks we love it that he can throw 12 punch's and not get hit in return wow)

Jermain Taylor ( a guy that just does enough to win and shows no heart in the ring at all)

i want the 80's to come back to boxing i didnt become a fan of the most exciting sport in history to be bored to death.

whe are fans of these type guys going to say enough is enough when are going to realize that Manny Pacquiao,MAB,Calzaghe,Margarito and Cotto and even Judah are what boxing should be about.

Heart and not the money hoe type guys that dont like to go to war.
when will fight fans realize that our sport is just hanging on because of constant politics from TV networks and money hungry managers and yet we keep feeding the guys that are boring our money because Ring want us to believe that boxing isnt about being exciting anymore its about one thing winning and it doesnt matter if you do it like a coward or you wrestle your way there it only matters if the money keeps coming in.

well not my money. thats it from me tell me when the next guy with at least half a heart turns up.
a Roberto Duran or maybe a Marvin Hagler or maybe a Tommie Hearns or matbe a Mike Tyson or maybe a Kostya Tszyu or maybe a Roy Jones or maybe a Azumah Nelson.
anyone with a Heart and some balls to not be protected.

i will probably get a bit of **** for this post of some of the fans but for the good of our sport im prepared to take that chance.

Kelly Pavlik and Miguel Cotto are throw back fighters.

Hatton's style is not that bad, he lands a lot of big punches then holds. Better than running, at least Hatton does damage as seen by his brutal body shot he landed on Castillo and stopping Tszyu.

stop living with the past. we're in 2007. Boxing is international now.
No more USA vs USA only.

I like Ricky Hatton, think he's a stand-up guy, trains his ass off, shows much love to his fans, is pretty clever, and respectful. That said, its hard to overlook his grappling style of boxing (in his two biggest fights, KT & JLC) and the FACT that he's gotten favorable treatment from the refs in BOTH of the above-mentioned fights.

I was VERY disappointed w/last night's fight! JLC looked a little wobbly, the first couple of rounds, but when he DOES start working his way into the fight, in the third, Joe "I'm fair but firm" [BULL****!] Cortez--after having said in front of EVERYONE that Hatton's shorts were high--starts warning JLC for phantom low blows! There were shades of Manchester and KT, when Hatton looked over at Cortez, after getting hit with a shot clearly NOT low, as if to say, "Hey, mate, you're not gonna let him hit me with body shots, are you?" . Then, at the beginning of the fourth he IMMEDIATELY deducts a point for a shot that wasn't even close to being low! Hatton, meanwhile, contrary to BOXING rules, uses non-stop grappling to maul JLC--with ZERO warnings from Joe "I'm a tool" Cortez. So, we have a fight where one fighter (JLC) is not allowed to throw body-shots, while the other can hold/hit, at will.

I think JLC knew the 'fix' was in, and that he was gonna get DQ'd, if he tried to work the body--which HAD to be a big part of his game plan. I believe Hatton landed a great body shot, but that JLC just stayed down. I hate to see that, and even SAY it, but the bias was unmistakable. Boxing is getting to be as bad as pro-wrestling. It's getting harder and harder to support it, and I've lost a TON of respect (like it HAD much left, anyways!) for the sport with **** like PBF/DLH, Spinks/JT, and, now, Hatton/JLC.

For the Hatton fans: again, don't get me wrong, nothing against Hatton--he's just maximizing the advantages he's being given--he's a class act, outside the ring, and does what he has to, to win, inside. Its just a side effect of the crookedness of the sanctioning bodies, networks, promoters, judges, and referees--that have become the norm in boxing.

I don't think you get it. It's a general fact. it's part of boxing history.

LOOK at Muhammad Ali's record and count the number of american opponents
    http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=000180

    Do the same for Foreman
    http://www.boxrec.com/record000090.html

    the same for Tyson
    http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=000474

    or Riddick Bowe
    http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=001640

It's a fact...There was no such thing as a Vitali Klitschko back in Ali's era...There was no such thing as a Lennox Lewis back in Tyson's prime...

No such thing as an eastern euro boxing invasion either..
Hell , they used to be banned back then..

Blocky is right. Whether the fans are a result of the American boxing media's brainwashing, is debatable though.

good post and i agree with it being pressure from to many parts.
    Managers,Family,Promoters etc.

and it is right but i feel the guys that step up take the chances and let there hands go not worry about the rest. you will start to see more fights like what we saw in Cotto vs Judah and less Spinks vs Taylor type fights.

its just really frustrating right now because the 80's got me started on boxing and the 90's kept the same sort of intensity with guys like Hopkins,Jones,Toney,Tszyu,Dela Hoya,Lewis,Tua,Gatti,Ward,Hamed etc really exciting guys yet as soon as we hit 2000 its like no i have to pick the exact right opponent so i dont lose my investment.

just getting really frustrated especially when theres like 10 guys out there going no im the best no but im the best and all there ding is beating up on older type guys instead of fighting guys in there prime like the 80's.

yes i think we were spoilt back then and now well what can i say.

as for Ali i was never impressed with his style or lack of excitment when it came to fighting but i believe his boxing brain was far better than any others.

i would rather watch Joe Louis or Mike Tyson and there styles any day of the week before id watch ALI.
